The anime adaptation of "The Strongest Rearguard: The Rookie Explorer of the Labyrinth Country" (Manga: Rikizo, Original Story: Towa, Character Original Art: Kazahana Fuuka), currently serialized on Kadokomi, will begin broadcasting nationwide on July 5th. To commemorate the anime broadcast, Kadokomi will be offering volumes 1-3 of the manga for free for a limited time.

Story Synopsis

Arito Atobe, a typical corporate drone who can't let go of work even on company trips, is reincarnated into an alternate world like a game called the "Labyrinth Country" due to an accident during that trip.

In this new world, he must conquer dungeons as an "explorer," and upon reincarnation, he is faced with the choice of a "profession." Desperate to be free from work, Arito requests a support role, but he is given a profession whose true nature is unknown even in this world – a "Rearguard."

Due to its characteristics, he can't form a party with anyone and is forced to hire a demi-human girl, Theresia, as a mercenary. When the two embark on dungeon exploration together, it turns out that the "Rearguard" is a versatile class capable of not only offense and defense support but also healing—!?
