KADOKAWA to Release Monthly Comic Gene June 2026 Issue on May 15, 2026

KADOKAWA announced that it will release the June 2026 issue of Monthly Comic Gene on Friday, May 15, 2026. The cover features The Writer I Admire Was Not Human, with manga by Toji Aio, original story by Mikage Sawamura, and original character designs by Sky Emma. The series presents a world where the eerie and fantastical breathe within everyday life, following a vampire writer and a rookie editor as they investigate non-human incidents. Manga volumes 1 and 2, along with original novel volumes 1 through 4 and EX, are currently on sale to strong reception. The back cover includes information on Monthly Comic Gene’s 15th anniversary fair, which begins on Monday, June 15, 2026. The campaign will offer bookstore-exclusive bonuses featuring newly drawn illustrations, along with a 15th anniversary e-book fair titled “Battle vs. Mystery, Which Do You Like?” Further updates are available on KADOKAWA’s official Comic Gene label page and the official Comic Gene X account. The special bonus item for this issue is a clear file featuring Associate Professor Akira Takatsuki’s Conjecture and The Writer I Admire Was Not Human, with artwork that connects across the front and back sides. The opening color feature is Anatomy Detective, with manga by Hotaru, original story by Shiki Shikishima, and original character designs by Kaomin. This forensic mystery follows a solitary genius forensic doctor and a rookie detective who can see spirits as they cut through mysteries and uncover the truth. All three volumes of the original novel series and manga volume 1 are currently on sale. Center color features include Toxic-a-Holic Alternate Episode, with manga by Shinki, composition by Teiko Sasaki, original work and supervision by Earth Star Entertainment and KADOKAWA, and original character designs by Ichiko Aikawa and miyato. The series is a poison-themed boys’ battle action fantasy in which poison is used to counter poison. Manga volume 1 is currently on sale. A new serialization with center color pages is The Family of False Funerals, with manga by Sotaro Yamada, original story by Oumi Kiko, and original character designs by Mariko Kodawara. The story follows suspicious “family” figures smiling in the dark and beckoning from rock bottom, as pseudo-siblings mourn and exorcise strange phenomena in this long-awaited manga adaptation of the buddy horror novel. The original novel is currently available from Kadokawa Bunko.
