GMO Internet, Inc. (President and CEO: Masashi Ito, hereinafter GMO Internet), a member of the GMO Internet Group, will standardize EDR (Endpoint Detection and Response) (Note 1) security monitoring on its "GMO GPU Cloud" managed HPC clusters starting Wednesday, July 1, 2026. In collaboration with the SOC (Security Operation Center) (Note 2) services of GMO Cyber Security by Ierae, Inc. (President and CEO: Makoto Makita, hereinafter GMO Cyber Security by Ierae), AI infrastructure will be monitored 24/7/365 at no additional cost. By having GMO Cyber Security by Ierae's SOC handle security monitoring and analysis, the risk of unauthorized access and resource misuse targeting sensitive intellectual property such as training data and proprietary models in AI development will be continuously reduced through a multi-layered defense system of EDR and SOC. Customers can focus on development and research with peace of mind under a 24/7/365 security monitoring system by expert analysts.
(Note 1) EDR (Endpoint Detection and Response) is a security solution that detects, analyzes, and responds to threats in real-time on endpoints such as PCs and servers. (Note 2) SOC (Security Operation Center) is an organization or facility specializing in security monitoring, analysis, and response.
[Background of Service Provision] As the development of generative AI accelerates, computing platforms are increasingly positioned as infrastructure handling critical corporate assets. Meanwhile, attacks targeting externally exposed AI services and components are also increasing, necessitating preparedness against the risk of computing resources themselves being misused (e.g., unauthorized resource utilization, data exfiltration).
The "Managed HPC Cluster" service of "GMO GPU Cloud" has been providing a managed, pre-configured and optimized Slurm environment (Note 3) to facilitate an environment where customers can concentrate on AI development. On the other hand, there has been a growing demand for endpoint-level security monitoring and analysis systems when handling sensitive data and proprietary models. To meet these needs, we have integrated EDR monitoring as a standard feature of the "Managed HPC Cluster" service in collaboration with the SOC services of GMO Cyber Security by Ierae, which handles our cybersecurity business.
(Note 3) Slurm (Slurm Workload Manager) environment is an open-source job scheduler for HPC clusters that automates the allocation and management of computing jobs across multiple nodes.
[Overview and Key Features of This Service]
The "GMO GPU Cloud" "Managed HPC Cluster" service provides the following security monitoring and analysis system as standard. No additional configuration or operation is required from customers, and it is effective from the start of service usage.
- Standard EDR Implementation: EDR for endpoint protection and detection is pre-installed on each GPU node to visualize suspicious behavior. Security levels, such as detection policies, are configured based on settings recommended by GMO Cyber Security by Ierae, providing protection at a level backed by expert knowledge. - 24/7/365 SOC Monitoring: GMO Cyber Security by Ierae's SOC collects and monitors EDR output logs and alerts 24/7/365. - High-Precision Detection through Smart Log Analysis: Using "SOLOBAN (Security Operation by Logic Based Analysis Engine)," a proprietary log analysis platform developed by GMO Cyber Security by Ierae, attacks are analyzed based on the MITRE ATT&CK® framework. This system suppresses false positives and over-detection with self-learning logic, determines the progression of attacks, and notifies users with reports based on the severity. - Threat Hunting by Expert Analysts: For threats that are difficult to determine mechanically, specialized security analysts conduct proactive in-depth analysis to discover and report new threats.
Utilizing the information collected and analyzed through the above system, in the event of any detected unauthorized access or signs thereof, appropriate actions such as identifying the scope of impact, containment, and customer notification will be taken swiftly, guided by the expertise and incident response instructions of GMO Cyber Security by Ierae's expert analysts.
[Future Development]
"GMO GPU Cloud" will continue to develop an environment where customers can confidently engage in AI development and operation, going beyond just providing computing resources. Starting with this collaboration with GMO Cyber Security by Ierae, we aim to expand our service menu leveraging the group's security expertise, achieving a high level of performance, convenience, and security required for computing platforms. As an essential domestic infrastructure provider for Japan's AI industry, GMO Internet will contribute to the creation of social and industrial AI innovation.
