GMO TECH Inc. (President and CEO: Ryoichi Suzuki, hereinafter GMO TECH) of the GMO Internet Group was selected as a business consignee on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, in the public proposal for the 'Local Ambassador Management and Information Dissemination Promotion Project' implemented by Fukushima Prefecture.
This project aims to strengthen information dissemination through the certification and training of local ambassadors who will communicate the region's appeal for the 'Fukushima Destination Campaign' (hereinafter Fukushima DC) to be held from April to June 2026.
GMO TECH plans to support local ambassadors' PR activities and website management through practical seminars combining Google Maps, SNS, and AI. By doing so, they aim to build momentum for the 'Fukushima DC' and strengthen the communication of Fukushima Prefecture's appeal, contributing to the success of this project.
[Background of the Project]
In recent years, with the spread of SNS and online media, the center of information gathering when choosing tourist destinations has shifted to the internet. For local governments, utilizing digital tools for information dissemination is crucial not only for attracting tourists but also for vitalizing local industries and expanding the interacting population.
Given this background, Fukushima Prefecture conducted a public proposal to select operators responsible for certifying local ambassadors who will promote the region's charm in conjunction with the 'Fukushima DC,' as well as managing information dissemination seminars and the project for these ambassadors.
GMO TECH was selected for this project, evaluated for its track record of conducting information dissemination seminars using Google Maps in Fukushima Prefecture in 2024, and its community-based operational structure in partnership with local company SCC Co., Ltd. (President and CEO: Nobuyuki Sakuma, hereinafter SCC).
[About the 'Fukushima Destination Campaign']
'Fukushima DC' is a tourism campaign where the JR Group, the prefecture, municipalities, and local tourism businesses unite to promote the charm of each region. Held from April to June 2026 across Fukushima Prefecture in spring, under the catchphrase 'The Wind of Happiness, Fukushima,' it offers special tourism experiences through four themes: 'Blessing of the Wind,' 'Scent of the Wind,' 'Poem of the Wind,' and 'Path of the Wind.'
[Planned Implementation Contents]
■ Holding Google Maps & SNS Marketing Seminars
Conducting marketing seminars for local ambassadors incorporating Generative AI, in addition to Google Maps and SNS. They will adopt a multifaceted approach centered on a 'Digital x Local' hybrid strategy that reliably reaches the target audience.
The seminar will introduce practical methods that can be used for information dissemination, such as optimizing Google Business Profiles, effective posting methods on SNS, as well as creating posts, generating ideas, and streamlining review responses using Generative AI.
Instructors will include GMO TECH members with extensive speaking experience and influencers adept at local information dissemination, teaching practical communication methods.
■ Local Ambassador Information Dissemination
Disseminating information calling for local ambassadors through the town information magazine 'Monthly CJ Monmo' and the town information site 'Daily CJ Monmo Web' published by SCC. By leveraging the network with restaurants and facilities within the prefecture through the magazine, information will be delivered to individuals and businesses in the prefecture interested in outing information, thereby improving the quality of local ambassadors.
■ Creation and Provision of PR Tools
Creating a 'Local Ambassador Certificate' and 'Original Button Badge' to provide to certified local ambassadors. This boosts the motivation of local ambassadors and encourages enthusiastic activities.
