Randy’s Donuts, founded in Los Angeles in 1952, is a beloved donut shop renowned for its iconic giant donut-shaped sign—approximately 10 meters (32 feet) in diameter—perched atop its original U.S. flagship store. This landmark has appeared in numerous films and music videos, making it a symbol of Los Angeles.
The first Japanese flagship store, 'Randy’s Donuts Shibuya Daikanyama,' opened in May last year. It features a massive 4-meter-diameter donut sign in front and an expansive display case (approx. 3m high × 2.7m wide) showcasing over 40 varieties of handcrafted donuts, with up to 1,000 pieces displayed daily, generating significant buzz.
Since then, the brand has rapidly expanded across Tokyo, opening stores at Shinjuku Station (September), Tokyo Station (December), Yurakucho (March), Ikebukuro Station (April), Meguro (May), and Shibuya (June), making its products accessible to a growing customer base.
This collaboration coincides with the premiere of the new 'GTO' drama on July 20, 2026 (Monday holiday), starring Takanori Nishikawa. The limited-time 'GTO × Randy’s Donuts Original Set' will be available starting July 11.
The product’s tagline is: 'Youth isn’t sweet, but donuts are.' Inspired by GTO’s signature black, red, and white colors, the 'GTO Special Raised' donut combines the sweetness of chocolate icing with the tartness of freeze-dried strawberries, evoking the bittersweet essence of youth. The set includes this donut and a special non-sale commemorative sticker pack, all presented in a unique collaboration-themed takeout bag.
From July 11, the iconic donut-shaped sign at the Shibuya Daikanyama store will be wrapped in a special 'GTO' collaboration design, and the store interior will feature key visuals from the drama, immersing visitors in the 'GTO universe.'
