Green Carbon Inc. (Representative Director: Jun Okita, hereinafter "Green Carbon"), which operates Japan's largest nature-based carbon credit creation and sales business, announces the official launch of its high-quality AWD rice production and sales business (hereinafter, this business). This follows the signing of a purchasing agreement with agricultural cooperatives for "*1 High-Quality AWD Rice" produced in the Mekong Delta region of southern Vietnam.

Cultivation of high-quality AWD rice began in December 2025, with a total of 200 hectares in Can Tho City and An Giang Province in the southern Mekong Delta region of Vietnam designated as demonstration areas. We will participate in the "*2 Vietnam 1 Million Hectare Project" promoted by the Vietnamese government and proceed with exports to European and New Zealand markets.

◆ Background of this Business Expansion

Green Carbon is engaged in creating nature-based carbon credits, primarily in Southeast Asia, and is developing projects in a wide range of fields, including forest conservation, paddy fields, mangrove reforestation, reduction of cattle burps, and biochar projects. In addition to developing carbon credit creation projects suitable for the characteristics of natural resources in each region, we achieve efficient and transparent project operation through site selection and monitoring utilizing satellite data.

Particularly in Vietnam, Green Carbon is focusing on reducing methane emissions from rice cultivation using *3 AWD (Alternate Wetting and Drying) technology. Since establishing a local office in August 2024, the company has built strong partnerships nationwide, signing Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with authorities in 15 provinces, including the Vietnamese Mekong Delta region, to accelerate the deployment of AWD and related initiatives.

○ Transforming Agriculture's "Environmental Cost" into "Export Revenue"

While agriculture (paddy rice cultivation) is pointed out as one of the main sources of anthropogenic methane gas emissions, attention is rapidly growing towards business models that reduce agriculture's environmental burden while increasing market value. Green Carbon is leveraging the AWD technology and knowledge cultivated through its carbon credit business to expand into the "high-quality AWD rice production and export" business. We are achieving decarbonization, improved agricultural revenue, and profit sharing with farmers within the same framework.

Based on the above background and achievements, Green Carbon has embarked on demonstrating the production of "high-quality, low-carbon rice" harvested from AWD projects in the Mekong Delta region, not limited to carbon credit creation. Taking the opportunity to participate in the "Vietnam 1 Million Hectare Project" promoted by the Vietnamese government, we collaborated with local Vietnamese municipalities and signed a purchasing agreement with agricultural cooperatives in December 2025, officially launching the production and sales business for Vietnamese AWD rice.

◆ What is High-Quality AWD Rice?

High-quality AWD rice refers to rice that meets quality standards while reducing greenhouse gas emissions during the cultivation process. Specifically, it refers to rice that achieves both sustainable agriculture and international competitiveness by reducing environmental impact through the introduction of AWD (Alternate Wetting and Drying).
