◆ Seminar Overview
Green Carbon is engaged in nature-based carbon credit creation, primarily in Southeast Asia, and operates in diverse fields such as forest conservation, rice paddies, mangrove reforestation, cattle burp reduction, and biochar projects. By developing projects suitable for the natural resources of each region and utilizing satellite data for site selection and monitoring, the company achieves efficient and highly transparent operations. In particular, rice paddy projects are being extensively developed both domestically and internationally.
In recent years, rice paddy methane reduction (AWD) in Thailand has attracted attention as a promising area for carbon credit creation. However, factors such as the structure of small-scale farmers, institutional compliance, requirements for submitting land title certificates, and the development of methodologies have been bottlenecks, limiting the number of projects that could be seriously considered for investment.
Green Carbon has been advancing the demonstration and system building of AWD projects in Thailand, confirming actual reduction amounts and establishing cooperation systems with local partners. In addition, concrete progress has been made towards methodological approval and institutional compliance under the JCM, and elements that were previously considered challenges are now being resolved. Against this backdrop, AWD projects in Thailand are transitioning from the "consideration phase" to a phase where companies can actually consider investment and participation. Furthermore, preparations are underway for other nature-based areas such as biochar, mangroves, and ERW, and the company is now able to present multiple investment and procurement opportunities tailored to corporate needs.
Recently, the entry of foreign companies and other players has also been observed, and the growth potential of the Thai market itself is once again attracting attention. In this context, Green Carbon believes that as a player that has pioneered local demonstration, system building, and negotiations with the local government, it is now in a position to present concrete projects.
Based on this background, this seminar will explain the current status and future development of AWD projects in Thailand, as well as investment and procurement opportunities available to companies, using concrete examples.
