Green Carbon Inc. (Representative Director: Jun Okita, hereinafter referred to as Green Carbon), which develops the largest nature-based carbon credit generation and sales business in Japan, is pleased to announce that it has been selected for the Space Strategy Fund Project (Phase 2) publicly offered by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA).

Green Carbon applied for the technical development theme "Acceleration of Implementation of Satellite Data Utilization System (A) Development and Demonstration of Satellite Data Utilization System" and proposed the "Construction of a National Emission Management System in Vietnam by Combining an Emission Management Tool for Carbon Credit Development and Satellite Research." With the adoption of this proposal, the company will build a system to calculate and manage agriculture-derived emissions on a national scale in Vietnam, thereby accelerating decarbonization in the country.

◆ Overview of the Demonstration Project
Recently, technological development for satellite data utilization systems has been advancing in various fields (agriculture and forestry, fisheries, disaster prevention and mitigation, civil engineering, construction, finance and insurance, environment, etc.). Nationally, there are also movements by the Japanese government to promote the appropriate use of satellites to the private sector to improve the efficiency and sophistication of government and municipal operations, and the "Satellite Remote Sensing Data Utilization Task Force" has been established.

In the theme for which Green Carbon was selected this time, JAXA provides intensive support for the development and demonstration of satellite data utilization systems aimed at social implementation, prepares an environment for satellite data utilization, and also supports system development and demonstration aiming for global expansion. Furthermore, by actively promoting government procurement by related ministries and private investment, it aims to expand the space solutions market.
