Season 1 of the TV anime "How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord" (Written by Yukiya Murasaki, Illustrated by Takahiro Tsurusaki / Published by Kodansha Lanove Bunko) aired in 2018, followed by Season 2 in 2021.
The story follows Takuma Sakamoto, a protagonist who boasted overwhelming strength in a game and was known as the "Demon Lord." One day, he is summoned to another world in his in-game form. There, he meets two girls, Shera and Rem, who both claim to be his "summoner." They attempt to cast enslavement magic on him, but his own ability reflects the spell, turning Shera and Rem into his slaves instead. Calling himself "Demon Lord Diablo," Takuma's journey became a sensation as a "dream and magic isekai adventure" where he dominates with absolute power.
To date, 14 volumes of the light novel and 28 volumes of the manga have been released. Volume 29 of the manga is scheduled for release on Thursday, April 9, 2026. As of August 2025, the series has surpassed a cumulative circulation of 4 million copies.
Today, it was announced that production for the third season of the anime has been greenlit!
