Goodfellows Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Musashino City, Tokyo; President and CEO: Masami Isobe) has provided a system primarily focused on ticketing and admission/exit management to the Edo-Tokyo Museum (Location: Sumida Ward, Tokyo). The museum had been closed entirely for major renovations since April 1, 2022, and reopened on March 31, 2026. The introduction of this system will promote labor-saving and efficiency, strengthen web sales, and support the advanced operation of this large-scale cultural facility, which welcomed approximately 1.13 million visitors annually (FY2019 results).

Background of Introduction

The Edo-Tokyo Museum was considering refreshing its ticketing and admission management system as part of its major renovation, with the aim of improving visitor convenience and facility operational efficiency.

In traditional ticket counter operations, many admission procedures were handled manually, placing a certain burden on staff. Especially for group visits, in addition to on-the-day general information desk support, many administrative tasks such as pre-booking information entry and visitor data management were performed manually, making operational efficiency a challenge.

Therefore, a key requirement for this renovation was to streamline overall operations related to admission and exit, aiming to improve visitor services by reducing reception times and alleviate staff workload.

Furthermore, the existing system was difficult to upgrade, limiting future functional expansion and adaptation to new services. Moreover, since permanent exhibitions and special exhibitions had different sales channels and operating entities, it was necessary to manage sales and visitor numbers separately and clearly.

To meet these operational requirements, there was a demand for establishing a new system infrastructure that would enable the introduction of web sales, cashless payments, and automated admission management.

Comment from Edo-Tokyo Museum Representative

Our museum needs to manage sales of various ticket types, including discounts, and visitor numbers. We adopted Goodfellows' products and systems because they support an environment where human errors are less likely to occur. We aim to reduce the labor-intensive aspects of manual work and, in turn, enhance services for our visitors.

Comment from Goodfellows Representative

The Edo-Tokyo Museum has been using our ticketing system for many years, and for this grand reopening, they have additionally introduced products directly leading to "labor-saving and efficiency." We also reviewed the visitor flow design, proposed sales methods for each product, and reorganized the previously complex master configuration with the facility to create a structure that is easier to manage and analyze.

By integrating into our package system this time, we aim to standardize operations and reduce future operational load.
