Gokurakuyu to Hold Traditional 'Shobu-yu' (Iris Bath) on Children's Day, May 5! Simultaneous Events and Giveaways for Children at Various Stores

Our subsidiary, Gokurakuyu Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President & CEO: Takeshi Sato), will hold a 'Shobu-yu' (Iris Bath) event at 40 Gokurakuyu and RAKU SPA group stores on Tuesday, May 5 (National Holiday), 2026.

In addition, there will be events and giveaway plans related to 'Children's Day' at each store, allowing parents and children to enjoy the occasion together.

Gokurakuyu / RAKU SPA's 'Shobu-yu'

May 5 is known as the 'Boys' Festival' as well as the 'Iris Festival'.

According to one theory, 'Iris' has long been known as a medicinal herb that wards off evil spirits, and it is said that taking a 'Shobu-yu' (Iris bath) became a custom to prevent falling ill during the change of seasons.

Gokurakuyu and RAKU SPA stores will hold the 'Shobu-yu', which is well-received every year, again this year. During the event period, a total of approximately 13,000 real irises will be placed in the baths across participating stores, allowing customers of all generations to experience bathing culture and enjoy time bonding with their families.
*The average number of irises used per store will be about 400.

Also, each store will hold events and giveaway plans aimed at children related to 'Children's Day', which falls on the same day, May 5.

Benefits of Shobu-yu

Because the iris contains many essential oil components, Shobu-yu is said to have the effect of promoting blood circulation and relieving fatigue, as well as an analgesic effect that alleviates lower back pain and neuralgia. It also has a high aromatic effect and is expected to provide aromatherapy benefits.
