We are endorsing April Dream, an initiative to spread dreams on April 1st. This press release is the dream of Certified NPO Good Neighbors Japan (GNJP).
■ Why Share This Dream Now? It is estimated that there are approximately 600,000 single-parent households in Japan facing economic difficulties*. Parents worry about daily food expenses, skipping their own meals to feed their children. Even then, it's not enough, and the reality is that children cannot eat three meals a day sufficiently. Such households undoubtedly exist in Japan today. Eating is the fundamental basis for children to grow and forge their future. And the healthy growth of children builds the future of Japan. That is precisely why we hold the dream of "Zero Hungry Children in Japan" to make it a given that they do not have to endure hunger today or worry about meals tomorrow.
■ The "Food Safety Net" Created by Good Gohan "Good Gohan," a food bank initiative operated by Certified NPO Good Neighbors Japan, is a system that delivers food donated by corporations and individuals free of charge to single-parent households in need. Currently, we deliver food to over 5,000 households monthly across three hubs: the Greater Tokyo Area, Kinki Region, and Kyushu**. "When in trouble, there are people to help." We conduct our daily activities with great care in communication with those who receive food, so they can feel that there is a place for them. Approximately ¥10,000 worth of food distributed per household
■ April Dream | The Future Good Gohan Envisions We are looking towards a society that tackles poverty long-term, not just as a temporary measure, by starting with food. To achieve this, we are expanding our operations with the following concepts: - Expand the support network to 10 locations nationwide, establishing a system to deliver food support to 60,000 households monthly. - Collaborate with other organizations that share our vision to create a society where all struggling households can access the food support they need. - Extend the scope of support beyond food assistance to encompass children's learning and experiences, safe spaces, clothing and daily necessities, housing, and childcare costs, addressing the underlying issues of poverty.
From "eating" to "living." That is the dream of Good Gohan.
■ This Dream Can Only Be Realized by Building It Together This future cannot be realized by our organization alone. We seek the participation of companies involved in food, companies striving to make society better in various fields, public institutions like municipalities, and every individual who believes "we can do something for society."
For example, for companies, collaborating with Good Gohan makes it possible to: - Connect daily business activities to social value. - Achieve tangible social contribution by leveraging their company's strengths. - Reflect the aspirations of each employee in support for children.
All of this can be achieved smoothly. Valuable support outcomes have been generated through collaborations with many companies to date. Voices of Corporate Representatives: https://www.gnjp.org/csr/voice/
