■ Launch of On-site Free Consultations
As part of its "Employment and Retention Support Project for Foreign Students in Japan," the Global Meeting General Incorporated Association (Secretariat: Tokyo) will begin offering on-site free consultations for international students enrolled in Japanese universities and graduate schools starting April 1, 2026, regarding residence status and Japan's unique job-hunting process.
■ From Online to In-Person—Expanding the Support System
Until now, our support has been primarily online. However, in response to the growing demand for in-person consultation opportunities at universities in recent years, we have decided to launch a new on-site consultation service by visiting universities. Through this, we aim to build a more accessible and user-friendly consultation system.
■ University Visit Support by Specialized Professionals
In this initiative, experts (certified immigration lawyers, labor and social security attorneys, etc.) with knowledge cultivated through public support projects such as the Support Center for Foreign Residents will visit universities directly to conduct free consultation sessions for enrolled international students. We will respond flexibly to the situation of each university and the needs of the students, providing practical and concrete support.
■ Nationwide Network of Approximately 200 Experts
Global Meeting has a network of approximately 200 support advisors nationwide (about 170 certified immigration lawyers and 30 labor and social security attorneys) who have been providing free consultations online. In this project, we will leverage this network to offer detailed in-person support and achieve a higher quality support system by assigning the most suitable experts to each university.
■ Practical Support for Students' Employment and Residency
The on-site free consultations aim to help international students studying at Japanese universities deepen their understanding of Japan's unique residence status system and job-hunting process, thereby facilitating their smooth employment in Japan. We also provide practical support by addressing specific concerns about changing residence status or work eligibility, and offering advice on company selection.
【Organization Overview】
The Global Meeting General Incorporated Association is an organization composed of certified immigration lawyers and labor and social security attorneys from across Japan, aimed at "supporting the employment and retention of highly skilled foreign professionals."
In supporting the hiring and retention of highly skilled foreign talent, we believe it is crucial for certified immigration lawyers, who have specialized knowledge of the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act and handle residence status application procedures, and labor and social security attorneys, who have specialized knowledge of labor-related laws and address corporate HR and labor issues, to work in close collaboration.
Our association was established in 2020 with the aim of building a comprehensive support system from hiring to retention of foreign talent by bridging these specialized fields. Currently, we utilize our nationwide network of experts to provide cross-sectional support to universities, companies, and local governments.
