JCB Co., Ltd. (hereinafter: JCB) and NTT Data Corporation (hereinafter: NTT Data) will promote initiatives to prevent credit card fraud. NTT Data launched "MiMORiTH™" (pronounced Mimoris, hereinafter: the Service), an information utilization platform that enables pre-emptive measures against credit card fraud, on March 23, 2026. JCB, as the first user, has adopted this service to enhance its response to fraud damages.
By utilizing this service, financial institutions, including card companies, will be able to promptly identify signs leading to fraud and respond to reduce risks before damages occur, while complementing existing measures.

## Background
According to an announcement by the Japan Credit Association, the amount of credit card fraud damage has remained high, exceeding 50 billion yen since 2023, with card number theft accounting for 90% of the damages, indicating a continuous deepening of the problem (Note 1).

In this environment, card companies are increasingly required to detect fraud early and prevent damages as part of their responsibility to support safe and secure payment usage.
JCB has also implemented measures primarily focused on transaction time and post-transaction, such as identity verification during payment transactions, system-based fraud detection (monitoring), stopping product delivery after fraud detection, and card suspension/reissuance.
However, as fraud techniques become more sophisticated and elaborate, there is an increasing need to grasp risk signs at an earlier stage, before fraud becomes apparent, and to take proactive measures, in addition to transaction-time countermeasures and post-incident responses.
Therefore, JCB has been exploring new initiatives to complement traditional measures and detect fraud risks at an earlier stage.
Based on these challenges faced by card companies, NTT Data released "MiMORiTH," a platform that organizes and analyzes various information that could lead to fraud, providing it in a format easily usable for practical operations. JCB endorsed NTT Data's objective to contribute to curbing overall fraud damage in the industry through the utilization of fraud-related information, in addition to enhancing its own fraud countermeasures, and adopted the service as its first user.

## Overview of MiMORiTH
MiMORiTH is an information utilization platform that organizes and analyzes various information related to fraud and provides it in a format that card companies and other financial institutions can easily cross-reference with their own proprietary information. By utilizing MiMORiTH, financial institutions can promptly identify events that could lead to fraud, thereby complementing and enhancing their existing fraud detection and monitoring operations.
This enables quicker and more appropriate decision-making regarding responses such as usage restrictions and warnings, contributing to the suppression of fraud damage and the reduction of customer service burdens.
Furthermore, this service is operated under strict security management measures and can be introduced without significant changes to existing business processes, thus enabling phased strengthening of countermeasures.

## Future Plans
NTT Data and JCB will continue to strengthen their collaboration to curb fraud damage in the financial sector and build a highly reliable transaction environment.
NTT Data will contribute to suppressing overall credit card fraud damage in the card industry by providing this service. Furthermore, with a view to expanding beyond the card industry to the entire financial industry, including banking, securities, and insurance, NTT Data will sequentially advance the expansion of MiMORiTH's functionalities and the enhancement of its services.
JCB will further strengthen its credit card fraud countermeasures through the utilization of this service.
Both companies will contribute to the realization of a safe and secure payment and financial transaction environment through this initiative.
