UNWIND HOTEL & BAR Otaru has announced the 16th installment of its in-hotel UNWIND GALLERY, an exhibition titled `Bloom for me` by Hokkaido-born artist SARU 1, which will run from Monday, June 1, 2026, to Sunday, August 30, 2026. Concurrently, a limited-time `Art Pairing Cocktail` inspired by the exhibition will be available at the hotel bar.

The UNWIND GALLERY merges the fantastical atmosphere of its Art Deco architecture with contemporary art by artists connected to Hokkaido. Located in Otaru, Hokkaido, UNWIND HOTEL & BAR Otaru is a unique boutique hotel that has been boldly renovated with a modern sensibility while preserving the historic character and architectural beauty of the former Etchuya Hotel, originally built in 1931 as Hokkaido`s first hotel exclusively for foreigners.

Since November 2022, the hotel has operated the UNWIND GALLERY as a venue to promote Hokkaido`s culture to the world through art. Located in the first-floor lobby and Bar Ignis Otaru, the gallery hosts artists with ties to Hokkaido, presenting exhibitions that change with the seasons.

The gallery allows visitors to experience the entire fantastical space, which retains strong elements of the Art Deco architectural style popular in Europe and the US from the mid-1910s to the 1930s. The hotel also offers the opportunity to purchase favorite works and enjoy an `Art Pairing Cocktail` that captures the world of the artwork through taste and aroma.

The 16th exhibition, `Bloom for me` by Hokkaido artist SARU 1, features a theme of `feeling the seasons as if falling in love.` A total of 25 works with flower and plant motifs will adorn the entire space from the first-floor lobby to Bar Ignis Otaru. The artist`s unique method of layering acrylic paint with decisive brushstrokes results in a graphical, rather than realistic, expression. The vibrant yet fluid touch captures the atmosphere of early Hokkaido summer and flowers swaying in the wind, allowing visitors to enjoy scenes of a lush summer that make the heart flutter, much like falling in love.
