A "Summer Lucky Bag" sold to pray for good health! A must-buy!
Includes commemorative novelty items to liven up "Gion Matsuri," one of Japan's three major festivals.
Gion Tsujiri's "Lucky Bags" are popular products that sell out immediately every summer and winter.
Among them, the "Summer Lucky Bag" is a signature summer product created in July, when "Gion Matsuri," one of Japan's three major festivals and known as a ritual to ward off epidemics, is held, with wishes for everyone's healthy daily lives.
For Gion Tsujiri, whose main store is located at the foot of Yasaka Shrine, "Gion Matsuri" is a special and important festival. To allow everyone, no matter where they are in the country, to feel the vibrant atmosphere of Kyoto unique to this season, we have included a "tenugui" (hand towel), which is also popular as a commemorative gift for Gion Matsuri, and a "cold tea bottle 500mL" perfect for the hot season. Both will be delivered in original Gion Tsujiri designs in collaboration with Kyoto Font.
Starting at 12:00 on July 2 (Thu), the "Meihin Set," which will be restocked in a limited quantity of 50 sets, and other "Summer Lucky Bags" sold to pray for good health, including "Reisencha" (cold green tea) recommended for the season when one tends to suffer from summer fatigue.
Introduced in 2026 with two types: "Meihin Set" and "Ippin Set."
The "Meihin Set," which is being restocked in a small quantity today, is a set filled with famous items recommended for first-time buyers, including the popular "Reisencha" and "Mizudashi Hojicha" (cold-brewed roasted green tea) that can be drunk easily in the hot season, as well as the long-selling matcha confectionery "Tsujiri no Sato." It is an assortment that allows "everyone to enjoy the coolness together" for the summer holidays when family and friends gather.
On the other hand, the "Ippin Set," which is running low, was created in response to customer requests to enjoy a variety of tea types that warm the body cooled by air conditioning, in addition to "Reisencha" and "Mizudashi Hojicha." It includes "Gyokuro" (high-grade green tea), "Kabusecha" (shaded green tea), "Genmaicha" (brown rice green tea), and "Stick Matcha," which are appearing in the lucky bag lineup for the first time, to enrich your summer tea time. Especially for hydration during the intense heat, "Gyokuro," "Kabusecha," and "Genmaicha" can be brewed a little stronger and enjoyed chilled in a glass with ice, or brewed with hot water when your body is cold from the air conditioning for a comforting warm cup.
The lucky bags, which have been improved year by year, are special editions only available at this time. As quantities are limited, please make your reservations early.

About Gion Matsuri
The magnificent and gorgeous Gion Matsuri is a festival of Yasaka Shrine with a tradition of 1,100 years.
Formerly known as Gion Goryo-e, it began in 869 (Jogan 11) when an epidemic broke out in the capital and throughout Japan. At the Emperor's command, 66 spears were erected, corresponding to the number of provinces at the time, and portable shrines were sent from Gion Shrine to Gion-sen-en to pray for the removal of calamities.
Gion Matsuri begins with "Kippuiri" on July 1st and concludes with "Ekijinja Nagoshi Matsuri" on the 31st, with various Shinto rituals and events taking place over the course of one month.
Quoted from: Official website of Yasaka Shrine (https://www.yasaka-jinja.or.jp/event/gion/#sec01)
Gion Tsujiri, whose main store is located on the approach to Yasaka Shrine, belongs to the "Miyamotogumi," a group whose successive heads lead the portable shrines with sacred treasures, and participates in many Shinto rituals and events, serving at the annual festival.
