After graduating from the School of Medicine, Hiroshima University in 1974, he trained in the First Department of Surgery at Hiroshima University Hospital and other institutions. After studying abroad in the UK, he opened Matsumura Cardiovascular and Surgical Clinic in 1984. He became Chairman of the Hiroshima Medical Association in 2020. He leads the "All Hiroshima Medical Association" involving all municipal and district medical associations in the prefecture.
