Geek+ Opens its Third Domestic LaaS Center, 'Koga LaaS Center'

Geek+ Inc. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director CEO: Yamato Kato) announces that it has opened and commenced full-scale operations of the 'Koga LaaS Center' within the multi-tenant logistics facility 'Prologis Park Koga 4' in Koga City, Ibaraki Prefecture.

This base is the third LaaS Center in Japan, following the Sagamihara LaaS Center (Sagamihara City, Kanagawa Prefecture) and the Joso LaaS Center (Joso City, Ibaraki Prefecture). By networking multiple locations, we will further strengthen our service system in our fulfillment business.

Background of Establishment

Amidst the intensifying challenges such as the expansion of EC demand, the 'Logistics 2024 problem,' and labor shortages, the establishment of a logistics system that can flexibly and rapidly respond to fluctuations in cargo volume has become an urgent necessity.

At Geek+, we are expanding our unique fulfillment business to meet these needs. Currently, due to the high interest and inquiries we are receiving from many businesses, we have opened the 'Koga LaaS Center' as a new strategic base.

With the opening of this base, which features a space of approximately 2,700 tsubo (approx. 8,910 sqm) with 150 automated guided vehicles (EVE), 20 working stations, and a storage capacity of 2,130 shelves, we will provide a wider and more robust logistics infrastructure, strongly supporting the business growth of our client companies.

Furthermore, this base will collaborate with the existing two locations and function as 'Cloud Warehouse®'*, networking multiple warehouses. This will enable flexible capacity utilization according to cargo volume fluctuations and the establishment of a distributed logistics system. Moreover, by providing an environment where cutting-edge automation equipment can be used as a service without requiring businesses to purchase or own robots themselves, we are establishing a system that allows businesses of all sizes to utilize advanced logistics environments.

By utilizing our in-house developed supply chain data utilization cloud 'skylaa (Skyllar)'*, we visualize inventory and work data between multiple locations in real-time. By achieving flexible and optimal inventory placement between locations based on demand forecasting, we support efficient supply chain management.

・ A Site Demonstrating High Durability and Flexibility through Hybrid Operation of New and Old Models

At this base, we have introduced Geek+'s AGV 'EVE' series, operating a combination of multiple generations of robots spanning from 2017 to 2024, from the latest models to conventional models with a proven track record of stable operation. Through this hybrid operation of new and old models, we build operations that maximize hardware durability and reliability, achieving stable operation over the long term. Furthermore, at this base, it is possible to confirm an operational environment extremely close to an actual logistics site, allowing you to grasp a more concrete image of its application after implementation.
