GEEK PICTURES Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Tamotsu Osano) is pleased to announce that it will host a solo exhibition titled 'Opera' by ceramic artist Mayumi Nakamura, running from Saturday, April 4, 2026, to Sunday, May 10, 2026, at Galerie GEEK/ART in Shibuya.
The theme of this exhibition is 'Opera,' a celebration of the joy of living, featuring a new worldview where past series intersect. Ceramic artist Mayumi Nakamura has consistently channeled her thoughts on herself, the era, and society into her pottery. Her previous works include the 'Jizai no Hana' (Flowers of Freedom)* series, which wraps the anxieties and weaknesses hidden within oneself in the powerful message, 'It is okay to be yourself; you just need to bloom your own flower.' This was followed by the 'Universe' series, which sublimated the loneliness of a divided world after the 2020 pandemic into hope through beautifully blending colors. Finally, she created the 'Chu ni Hana' (Flowers in the Air) series, which fused the worldviews of 'Jizai no Hana' and 'Universe.' In the solo exhibition 'Opera' opening on Saturday, April 4, these three series will intersect to sing a new song of the 'joy of living.' The collection of works, which captures the moment when the vitality hidden within dynamically awakens, will vividly resonate with the senses of the viewers. We invite you to enjoy this exhibition, which is perfect for the spring season, when flowers bloom in the gentle warmth and one can feel the breath of life.
