A lecture incorporating questions for the students.

On June 23, Jumonji Junior High and High School (Toshima Ward, Tokyo) held a special lecture with Mr. Jagan Chapagain, Secretary General of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), as the guest speaker. Around 100 students, primarily second-year high school students, along with members of the JRC (Junior Red Cross), other interested students, faculty, and guardians, participated in the lecture. The IFRC is an international humanitarian aid organization with member Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies from 191 countries and regions worldwide. Secretary General Chapagain began his career as a youth volunteer and now oversees international activities responding to humanitarian crises such as disasters, conflicts, and infectious diseases occurring around the globe.

Jagan Chapagain, Secretary General, speaks about global humanitarian issues and the role of youth.

The lecture introduced the current state of humanitarian crises occurring worldwide and the role played by the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. He also reflected on his own experiences that led him to engage in Red Cross activities, sending a powerful message to the students.

Following the lecture, an exchange of opinions was held with JRC club members.

After the lecture, an exchange of opinions was also held with the school's JRC club members, who asked questions about their daily activities and international cooperation efforts. Secretary General Chapagain responded thoughtfully, sharing examples from his own experiences and activities around the world, and listened attentively to the thoughts and ideas of each student.

This was a valuable opportunity for the students, who actively engage in activities valuing the JRC's practical goals of "Notice, Think, Act," to directly experience the perspectives of a leader working on the front lines of international humanitarian aid.

Moving forward, our school will continue to promote educational activities that foster the ability of each student to perceive social issues as their own and to forge the future through collaboration with diverse individuals.
