GAAAT to Hold Indonesian Contemporary Art Exhibition "CULTURAL CLASHING" at GAAAT GALLERY FUKUOKA_ from June 13-21

GAAAT Inc., an art brand that expands the expression and experience of IP content through the power of art and technology (Headquarters: Taito-ku, Tokyo; Representative: Yusuke Tokuhashi), is collaborating with Jakarta-based art organization "Canvas Confluence Collective (CCC)" and marketing company "Skandara" to hold the group exhibition "CULTURAL CLASHING," featuring 16 Indonesian contemporary artists, from Saturday, June 13, 2026, to Sunday, June 21, 2026, at "GAAAT GALLERY FUKUOKA_ (hereinafter referred to as GGF)."

This exhibition is a special project to introduce contemporary art and culture born in Jakarta, one of Southeast Asia's largest cities, to Japan. Sixteen creators active across multiple fields such as music, art, fashion, design, and street culture will participate, transmitting the appeal of Indonesia's current creative scene from Fukuoka.

■ Jakarta's Creative Scene Attracting Global Attention
In recent years, Indonesia's contemporary art scene has been gaining global attention. In 2022, the Indonesian art collective "ruangrupa" served as the artistic director for "documenta 15," one of the world's largest international art festivals held in Germany (※1). The concept of viewing art not as a standalone work but in relation to community and society has had a significant impact on the global contemporary art world.

Furthermore, Jakarta has fostered a unique culture where art, music, fashion, and design naturally intersect, giving rise to numerous independent activities by young creators. This exhibition offers a valuable opportunity to experience Jakarta's ongoing creativity in Japan.

■ Reasons for GAAAT's Involvement in This Project
GAAAT has been engaged in initiatives to extend art beyond mere "appreciation" to include "ownership" and "spatial experience."

In recent years, GAAAT has expanded its exhibition and sales activities overseas, including in Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago, and Paris, while also working to form international communities through art and culture. Simultaneously, Asia, beyond Japan, is a birthplace of numerous fascinating cultures and artists.

This project aims to provide Japanese art fans with encounters with new cultures and to create new points of connection for creators and communities in both Japan and Indonesia.

Moving forward, GAAAT will continue to generate more opportunities for diverse cultural exchange from Fukuoka, the gateway to Asia, with GGF as its starting point.

■ Exhibition Works and Main Participating Artists
This exhibition will feature and sell 16 works by 16 creators primarily active in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The participating artists have diverse backgrounds, including contemporary artists, musicians, graphic designers, illustrators, record label operators, and community organizers, each working across multiple fields.
