A Special Project to Experience the Spirit of Tea Ceremony with Japanese Assiette Desserts and Tea Pairings
"Oryori Mukyu," a Japanese kappo restaurant located in Roppongi Hills, will hold a collaborative event with table tea ceremony master Naoko Tomita titled "Oryori Mukyu's Japanese Culture Salon: Enjoying Tea Ceremony and Japanese Assiette Desserts" for two days only, on July 16, 2026 (Thu) and July 20, 2026 (Mon, holiday).
This event is a special project in collaboration with Naoko Tomita, who, as the representative of Matcha Communication® Table Tea Ceremony SUI, teaches table tea ceremony both domestically and internationally. It aims to allow participants to lightly enjoy the spirit of "hospitality" cultivated by the tea ceremony and the sensibility of appreciating the seasons, all through a modern lens. At "Oryori Mukyu," we will deliver a once-in-a-lifetime cultural experience savored with all five senses, through Japanese assiette desserts and Japanese tea pairings.
Oryori Mukyu's Promotion of Japanese Culture by Combining Japanese Cuisine and Traditional Culture
With the slogan "Turning Dreams into Reality! Bringing Japanese Cuisine to the World!", our company is engaged in promoting Japanese culinary culture both domestically and internationally. At "Oryori Mukyu," we emphasize delivering Japanese cuisine not merely as food, but as an "experience of Japanese culture" that encompasses the sensibility of appreciating the seasons, the artistry of ceramics and arrangements, the etiquette, and the spirit of hospitality.
As part of these efforts, Mukyu continuously develops experiential projects that combine Japanese cuisine with Japan's traditional culture. In our previous event, themed "Kimono x Japanese Cuisine," we proposed an enjoyable time through attire and food by combining kimono and yukata rentals and dressing experiences with dining at Mukyu.
This time, the theme is "Tea Ceremony x Japanese Assiette Desserts x Tea Pairing." Following kimonos, we focus on the tea ceremony, a symbol of Japanese culture, and have reconfigured the spirit of "hospitality" cultivated by the tea ceremony and the sensibility of appreciating the seasons into a form that can be lightly enjoyed with a modern sensibility.
Kimono, tea ceremony, and Japanese cuisine are all traditional Japanese cultures that have valued the changing seasons and consideration for others. Mukyu will continue to transmit new ways to enjoy Japanese culture to people both domestically and internationally by combining Japanese cuisine with various traditional cultures.

Enjoying the Spirit of Tea Ceremony with Tea Pairings
On the day of the event, participants will enjoy the subtle changes in aroma, taste, and aftertaste by pairing Japanese teas selected by Ms. Tomita with Japanese assiette desserts prepared by Oryori Mukyu.
The planned teas include a welcome tea to start with a refreshing taste, followed by rose tea with its characteristic floral aroma, gyokuro rich in umami, IBUSHI which offers smoky nuances, and matcha.
This event is designed to be accessible and allow participants to feel the spirit of the tea ceremony in a familiar way, without being overly bound by formality. It is enjoyable for those already familiar with Japanese culture, as well as for those encountering the tea ceremony for the first time.
Mukyu's Unique Assiette Desserts Beyond the Realm of Traditional Japanese Sweets
What will be served this time are Mukyu's unique Japanese assiette desserts, which transcend the conventional categories of "Japanese sweets" or "desserts."
Shoichiro Igarashi, the owner of Oryori Mukyu, plans to create dishes that incorporate savory elements in addition to sweetness, refreshing desserts that evoke the season, and sweets made with fruits, all from a chef's perspective.
The soft textures that can only be enjoyed when freshly made, the rising aromas, and the beauty of the dishes being prepared right before your eyes are also highlights of this event. At the counter seats, you can closely observe the finishing touches.
*The content on the day may change depending on ingredient availability and seasonal conditions.
A Special Moment Savored in a Serene Space
This event will be held with a combination of counter and table seating, limited to 10 participants per session. The small group size allows participants to fully appreciate the aromas of the tea and desserts, the chef's movements, and the spaciousness of the venue.
Over these two days, tea ceremony, Japanese cuisine, sweets, and spatial arrangement will converge. From Roppongi Hills, a place where people from all over the world gather, we will deliver a new Japanese cultural experience that can only be found here.
