Future Link Network Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Funabashi, Chiba; Representative Director: Takeharu Ishii, hereinafter FLN), which promotes the creation of relevant populations, collaborated with Hokota City, Ibaraki Prefecture, to conduct an agricultural experience program involving strawberries at the farm 'Muraito' in Hokota City on Friday, March 20, 2026, as part of the 'Chiioshi Hokota City Agricultural Experience Project'.
At Muraito, representative Takumi Iseki and technical interns from Indonesia work together to grow exceptionally high-quality strawberries.
In this program, participants experienced harvesting and packing strawberries. The initiative aims to create a relevant population that interacts with the region 'more than just as tourists, but less than actual residents' by coming into direct contact with the production site and the farmers' passion.
After the event, we interviewed two participants to hear how their relationship with the region and its people changed through the experience.
1. Background
Hokota City is 'the city that produces the most vegetables in Japan', boasting the number one spot nationwide for 10 consecutive years from 2014 to 2023 in the agricultural output value (vegetables) published by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
Continuously conveying the charm of the region, supported by rich farmland and diverse crops, to people in urban areas leads not only to the promotion of tourism but also to the expansion of the relevant population.
FLN has collaborated with Hokota City to continuously develop agricultural experiences connecting producers with people outside the region.
Starting in 2025, we positioned this initiative as the 'Chiioshi ~Regional Support Project~', planning experience-based programs as gateways to building continuous relationships with the community rather than just one-off tourist experiences.
2. Implementation Details (Schedule of the Day)
In this program, participants primarily experienced the process of packing and boxing the high-quality strawberries produced at Muraito, learning the work required before delivering the product to customers.
Learning from the Indonesian interns, participants studied the actual shipping process on-site, including how to harvest strawberries without damaging them and packing methods to maintain their appearance and freshness.
During breaks in the experience, time was set aside to hear directly from representative Takumi Iseki.
Mr. Iseki studied abroad in Indonesia after graduating from university and decided to pursue agriculture following his experiences overseas.
Currently, daily meetings are conducted in Indonesian, and he holds the future goal of 'creating a farm in Indonesia.'
Touching upon Mr. Iseki's global perspective and his attitude of valuing human connections provided the participants with an opportunity to understand the potential of agriculture more multi-dimensionally and humanly.
