Fuller Inc. (Headquarters: Niigata City, Niigata Prefecture, President and CEO: Masashi Yamazaki, hereinafter referred to as "Fuller") is pleased to announce that, as a digital partner, it has supported the planning and design of the "NHK Plus" TV app developed by the Japan Broadcasting Corporation (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, President: Itsuhiko Inoue, hereinafter referred to as "NHK").
About the "NHK Plus" TV App
The "NHK Plus" TV app is compatible with NHK's new internet service "NHK ONE," which launched on October 1, 2025. This app is a renewal and enhancement of the previous "NHK Plus," offering a service that consolidates NHK's programs and information, including simultaneous live streaming, catch-up viewing, news articles, and videos, into one platform for internet-connected TVs.

Fuller's Support

For the planning and design of the "NHK Plus" TV app, Fuller's project members began by using various existing TV apps, both domestic and international, to understand the user experience.
TV apps have unique UI characteristics due to the nature of the TV device, such as its relatively large screen size, the need to accommodate behaviors like "scrolling down," and the primary use of remote control buttons for operation.
On the other hand, TV apps are relatively new compared to smartphone apps, and established theories or best practices are not yet solidified.
In such a situation, we believed that the shortest path to exploring user-centric designs was to gather input from actual experiences with existing TV apps on the market.
By repeating the experience of launching an app, searching for content, and actually viewing it, as a single user across as many apps as possible, we meticulously investigated which UIs users are familiar with.
For the UI design of "simultaneous live streaming," a major requirement for this renewal, we considered what UI would be optimal as a "TV app" rather than terrestrial broadcasting, creating and examining multiple patterns.
We also focused on clearly displaying NHK's abundant content and making it easy to search. We achieved an intuitive and easily understandable UI design that allows users familiar with other TV app operations to use the "NHK Plus" TV app smoothly and without confusion.
Moving forward, Fuller will continue to deliver user-friendly apps by emphasizing on-site experience and staying close to users, thereby realizing its mission: "Bringing Human-Centric Digital Services to Everyone."
