Fukushima Hachiman Shrine (Yame City, Fukuoka Prefecture) will hold a Tanabata Prayer Festival for 100 groups only on July 4, Reiwa 8 (Saturday).
At this festival, participants will write their wishes on strips of paper, and after a formal Tanabata prayer service is offered before the gods, LED sky lanterns will be dedicated to the night sky.

Sky lantern events have gained popularity in recent years, and this is a special Tanabata ritual where each participant's wish is reported to the gods and entrusted to the night sky.
The experience of holding a formal ceremony at the shrine and then launching lanterns after offering prayers to the gods is a unique Tanabata event at Fukushima Hachiman Shrine.
On the day of the event, a "Calligraphy Performance" by a shrine priest and calligrapher will also be held.
This is a special Tanabata ritual where each participant's wish is reported to the gods and entrusted to the night sky.
The shrine grounds, which will be the venue, will also host the "Yorukoude" (Night Visit) event, a special event for July and August.
Enjoy a magical shrine space, different from the daytime, with a "Shrine Aquarium" themed around goldfish, limited-edition night-time amulets, food stalls, and more.
