Fujiya Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo, President: Nobuyuki Kawamura) and the Public Interest Incorporated Foundation, Japan Shogi Association (Tokyo Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, President: Chiyo Shimizu) have decided to hold the seventh "Peko-chan's First Shogi Class," an event that began in 2019 and has been well-received.

June 2025: Sixth Event Held

"Peko-chan's First Shogi Class" is a shogi class event for children who are beginners in shogi. This seventh event will be held in Osaka for the first time. It will take place at Osaka Sayama City Kita Elementary School, the alma mater of Yuki Muroya Female Professional 3-dan, who also serves as a special ambassador for the city and is from Osaka Sayama City. With Hideshi Muranaka 7-dan and three other professional shogi players, participants will learn basic shogi rules and experience playing shogi, allowing them to discover the fun of the game. Why not create family memories with Peko-chan?

[Target Participants]

Children aged approximately 5-8 who are beginners in shogi (regardless of gender) and their guardians.

*Transportation costs to the venue are the responsibility of the participant.

・Greetings and etiquette

・Lecture on how to set up shogi pieces, how they move, and basic rules

・Playing experience (between child and guardian)

・Photo session with Peko-chan

*Souvenirs will also be provided. (Planned items include shogi pieces, a paper shogi board with Peko-chan original design, and a Fujiya confectionery assortment.)
