Fuji TV TWO, a CS broadcaster known for airing popular dramas and anime, has decided to launch a regular bi-monthly broadcast starting in July of the program 'Gokudo Sweets: Two Tough-Looking Actors' Casual Tour of Delicious Sweets,' featuring Taiho Motoomi and Shokyo Yamaguchi. The duo, who co-starred in the jidaigeki series 'Japan Unification' and are popular as tough-looking actors, will casually stroll through cities visiting sweets shops.

The show, which aired two episodes in March, quickly became a hit not only among fans of jidaigeki but also among a broad audience, generating an overwhelming number of viewer requests for new episodes. In response to this demand, the program has now been upgraded to a regular series.

Starting with episode #3—the first regular broadcast—Shinra Manzo (Shinra Manzo), the narrator of 'Japan Unification' who has received strong support from fans, will serve as the narrator for this program as well.

The show's setting is 'yakuza.' The sweets shops they visit are referred to as 'enemy territory.'

Contrary to their tough appearances in films and dramas, the two actors take on unique personas: Motoomi, the 'picky elder brother' who loves sweets but has many dislikes, and Yamaguchi, the 'sweets elder brother' who is a huge sweets enthusiast. Together, they aim to achieve 'Japan Unification' by expanding their territory, launching raids on 'enemy territory' (sweets shops).

Their tools are personal forks and small cameras. While they unleash yakuza-style power words like 'firing a gun' and 'raiding,' the moment they taste the sweets, their tough-guy facades completely collapse.

The dramatic contrast between their stern yakuza roles and their innocent reactions, enhanced by Shinra Manzo's narration, creates a fresh and entertaining street-walking show that will delight not only jidaigeki fans but also sweets lovers.

"During the initial planning meeting, Mr. Motoomi playfully demonstrated an idea—reaching into his chest as if drawing a gun, but instead pulling out a fork. In that moment, I felt the intense presence of Hyoshitsu Renji and Tamura Yuto from 'Japan Unification' right before my eyes. My tense feelings instantly relaxed, and I became convinced: 'This will be a program where we can fully embrace and play with the yakuza worldview.'

Born in 1972, from Tokyo.

Major works include NHK's 'Chimudon Don,' the film series 'Shizukanaru Don' (2023–), 'Hyoshitsu Renji (Japan Unification Series),' the film and drama series 'Onihei Hankachō' (2024–), and NHK's Taiga drama 'Berabou ~Toshie no Eiga no Yumebanashi~.'

In the jidaigeki series 'Japan Unification,' he co-stars with Shokyo Yamaguchi and also serves as the general producer.

＜Shokyo Yamaguchi＞

Born in 1971, from Tokyo.

Graduate of Japan Action Club. Winner of the Best Action Actor Award and Grand Prize at the Japan Action Awards in 2017. Recent major works include the films 'Zai no Koe' and 'Tamura Yuto ISOLATED (Japan Unification spin-off),' the drama series 'Chuza Keiji,' NHK's Taiga drama 'Berabou ~Toshie no Eiga no Yumebanashi~,' and FOD SHORT 'Gokudo ~GOKUDO~.' In the jidaigeki series 'Japan Unification,' he co-stars with Taiho Motoomi.

Born in 1959, from Oita Prefecture.

Serves as narrator for the jidaigeki series 'Japan Unification.'

Primarily appears in films, V-Cinema, and pink films.

In June 2021, won the Momokuma Best Actor Award at the Pink Film Best Ten 2020.
