The Black Ship Festival is a historic festival that began in 1934 to commemorate the achievements of our predecessors, triggered by the arrival of the American fleet led by Commodore Perry in 1854. Every year, to coincide with the Black Ship Festival, Shimoda Aquarium holds a limited-time fish feeding show by a diver dressed as "Commodore Perry" in the large tank inside the Aqua Dome Perry. During the show, the diver introduces the fish inside the large tank while feeding them, focusing on fish inhabiting the seas around Izu, such as the pitted stingray, which exceeds 2 meters in total length.
