IHG Hotels & Resorts (hereinafter "IHG"), a global hospitality company, and Fuji Kyuko Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "Fuji Kyuko"), which celebrates its 100th anniversary this year and operates diverse businesses rooted in the region, have announced a strategic partnership to open the historic "Hotel Mount Fuji" as the third "Vignette Collection" hotel in Japan. This project is positioned as part of Fuji Kyuko's 100th-anniversary initiatives, serving as a starting point for a group strategy to actively promote luxury business, thereby enhancing the value of Lake Yamanaka and the overall brand value of the Mt. Fuji area. Details regarding the specific opening period and renovation plans will be announced at a later date.
Key points of this partnership are as follows:
* "Hotel Mount Fuji," renowned for its spectacular panoramic views of Mt. Fuji and Lake Yamanaka, will undergo extensive renovations and be rebranded as "Hotel Mount Fuji, Vignette Collection." * IHG will open its third hotel facility in Japan under the luxury brand "Vignette Collection," which gathers unique hotels from destinations worldwide, following "Rihga Royal Hotel Osaka" and "The Windsor Hotel Toya." * This marks the first partnership agreement between IHG and Fuji Kyuko, inheriting the rich history of "a hotel built to view Mt. Fuji" into a new era.
Intent of Joining the "Vignette Collection" and Forming the Partnership:
1. Rebranding of a Historic Asset Since its opening in 1963, "Hotel Mount Fuji," Japan's first vacation hotel beloved by domestic and international guests for its breathtaking views of Mt. Fuji and Lake Yamanaka, will embark on a new chapter by joining IHG's "Vignette Collection." It will offer global standard hospitality and unique experiences. Located at an altitude of 1,100m on a mountaintop, this hotel boasts approximately 150 guest rooms and provides facilities such as hot springs, saunas, and swimming pools.
2. Expansion of Brand Portfolio "Hotel Mount Fuji" will join the "Vignette Collection" portfolio as the third property in Japan, following "Rihga Royal Hotel Osaka" and "The Windsor Hotel Toya," under IHG's luxury & lifestyle brand. This will further enhance the presence of the "Vignette Collection" brand, which operates over 79 hotels worldwide (including open and pipeline hotels), in Japan.
3. Maximization of Ripple Effects on Regional Tourism As a tourism hub around Mt. Fuji, the hotel is expected to attract new customer segments from both domestic and international markets. By strengthening its appeal to visitors through this rebranding, the aim is to contribute to the overall value enhancement, tourism promotion, and economic revitalization of the entire Fuji Five Lakes area.
4. Expansion of Fuji Kyuko Group's Business Domain Through collaboration with the Fuji Kyuko Group's transportation, leisure, and real estate businesses, synergistic effects across the entire group will be created. While continuing to provide value to traditional domestic market customers, the group strategy aims to expand its business domain and create revenue opportunities by strengthening the attraction of inbound tourists. This project, as part of the 100th-anniversary initiatives, will accelerate the shift to the luxury segment and position the enhancement of premium value in the Lake Yamanaka and Mt. Fuji area as a new pillar of group growth.
