FRONTEO, Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Masahiro Morimoto; hereinafter "FRONTEO") announced that its President and CEO, Masahiro Morimoto, delivered a lecture on June 10, 2026 (local time) at American University (Location: Washington D.C., USA), a renowned institution that has produced numerous professionals in policy-making and international affairs.

In his lecture, Morimoto emphasized that as the AI market expands, the role of AI in scientific fields extends beyond mere efficiency improvements to "complementing and enhancing human decision-making and discovery capabilities." He specifically pointed out that scientific processes such as hypothesis generation and verification are areas that rely on human intellect, and that added value is created through collaboration with AI.

He also explained that FRONTEO's proprietary equation-driven AI, "KIBIT"*1, unlike generative AI which excels at operational efficiency, has strengths in "discovering unknown insights" and "ensuring objectivity." These characteristics serve as differentiators in fields requiring advanced judgment and novelty, such as drug discovery, healthcare, and legal affairs, positioning them as the source of the company's competitive advantage.

Furthermore, the lecture highlighted that even as AI becomes more integrated into society, final decision-making must remain with humans, and projected that the importance of the human role in AI-assisted decision-making will continue to grow.

About American University

American University, established in 1893 with the approval of the U.S. Congress, is a prestigious private university in the United States. It is particularly recognized for its international relations program, ranking among the top 10 in the nation according to U.S. Foreign Policy magazine. The university boasts strong networks with U.S. federal government agencies, Congress, think tanks, and international organizations, and has produced many individuals who play key roles in U.S. policy-making and the resolution of international issues.

This lecture was part of the university's seminar series, "Summer Undergraduate and Graduate Experience in Research Seminar Series," which provides students and researchers with opportunities to engage with cutting-edge research and industry insights.

FRONTEO's U.S. Expansion

FRONTEO has been expanding its business into the life science AI field, building on its analytical technologies cultivated in e-discovery and digital forensics. Centered around its equation-driven AI "KIBIT," the company is advancing its solutions and market expansion. FRONTEO began its full-scale U.S. expansion in June 2025*2 and commenced joint research with the University of Oklahoma in July of the same year*3, advancing research and development of innovative pharmaceuticals using AI. In May 2026, this joint research announced that the University of Oklahoma confirmed the inhibitory effect on cell proliferation for a candidate pancreatic cancer target molecule identified by FRONTEO using its AI drug discovery support service "Drug Discovery AI Factory (DDAIF)"*4, and that research is now progressing to the animal testing stage*5.

FRONTEO will continue to strengthen collaborations with domestic and international research institutions, educational institutions, and public organizations through the societal implementation of its equation-driven AI "KIBIT," contributing to the advancement of medical and pharmaceutical research, the development of innovative drugs, and the resolution of unmet medical needs.
