[Comment from the Person in Charge]
This project started from the perspective of how to communicate the educational policy of the Yokohama Municipal School for the Blind to school and educational stakeholders (the school served as the venue for the 66th National Conference on Education for the Visually Impaired).
The school sincerely responds to the fine gradients of disabilities and individualities that the students have. We aimed to display this stance as posters within the school and generate dialogue with visitors. During production, we challenged ourselves to visualize the different ways each student sees and feels, which were obtained through interviews with visually impaired students. Through the craftsmanship of illustrator Ai Shinomiya, it has been elevated into an expression that conveys the very differences in individual perspectives.
Having been repeatedly recognized at international advertising awards, we hope that the school's educational policy and efforts will become more widely known. We also hope that communication starting from diverse 'ways of seeing' and 'ways of feeling' will further permeate society.
