Japan Frescoball Association (JFBA) Releases Special Site for 'Frescoball Kirishima Cup 2026' to be Held July 11-12; Advance Entries Begin June 10.

The Japan Frescoball Association (JFBA), dedicated to promoting the 'traveling, communication design sport' of Frescoball in Japan, is pleased to announce the release of the special website for the 'Frescoball Kirishima Cup 2026,' to be held on July 11-12, and the commencement of advance entries from June 10.

This event marks the 2nd stage of the 'FRESCOBALL JAPAN TOUR 2026,' launched with the new concept of 'Sports Tourism x Frescoball.' While there are 35 regional clubs nationwide, this will be the first JFBA official tournament held in Miyazaki Prefecture, an area still developing in terms of Frescoball promotion.

To showcase the significance and concept of this event, the special website has been launched. The tagline 'Enjoy rallies as if you were traveling' on the first view embodies the current state of Japanese Frescoball. Following the 'Frescoball Makinohara Cup 2026' held in June, this tournament is positioned to offer a new kind of richness by enabling participants to 'visit various places across Japan by enjoying Frescoball.' Furthermore, it aims to promote the further spread of Frescoball in Kyushu, blessed with natural beaches, by using this tournament as a catalyst.

Advance entries for supporting members will begin at noon on Wednesday, June 10. A communication party is also planned, aiming for a tournament where participants can fully enjoy the land of Kirishima. Spectating and participation are free. We encourage those living nearby to feel free to attend.

■ What is 'Traveling, Communication Design Sport' Frescoball?
Frescoball is a beach sport originating from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Conceived on Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro in 1945, it is now enjoyed on beaches worldwide. The most distinctive feature of Frescoball is that it is not a competitive sport where two opposing players compete, but rather a scoring game where two players cooperate to continue rallies. Matches are played for 5 minutes with a distance of 7 meters maintained between the players. Due to the cooperative nature of continuing rallies, it is also called the 'sport of consideration.' JFBA has reached a basic agreement in October 2025 with the Rio de Janeiro Frescoball Federation (FEFERJ) to establish 'UAFI,' the world's first international organization, aiming for global rule unification. Furthermore, JFBA is strengthening its promotion activities as a sport highly compatible with sports tourism, centered around Japan's unique Frescoball culture of 'enjoying Frescoball year-round as if traveling.' Currently, 29 official regional clubs and 6 official student organizations are registered in Japan.
