The Japan Frescoball Association (JFBA, Representative Director: Kenji Kuboshima), which promotes the "traveling, communication design sport" of frescoball in Japan, announces that its official regional club, the Fukuoka Frescoball Club, will host 'Frescoball by the Fukutsu Sea! Parent-Child Trial Session♪' on the morning of Saturday, June 27th.
A parent-child trial session will be held at "Fukuma Coast," also known as the Shonan of Kyushu. This venue hosted the "Frescoball Fukuma Cup 2025" and was popular among players from all over the country. It is known as a beautiful beach with white sand and green pines, attracting many surfers from inside and outside the prefecture, and is so pristine that sea turtles visit to lay eggs, thanks to the tireless efforts of the local community. It is also known as the "mirror sea" for the mystical way the sandy beach reflects the sky like a mirror during low tide.
At this trial session, parents and children will challenge themselves with "frescoball," a beach sport originating from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1945. This will be the first such attempt on this coast, limited to the first 6 families. The participation fee is 1,000 yen per family. Moeka Osada, a player from Frescoball Fukuoka and the event coordinator, commented, "I would be delighted if parents and children could feel the joy of being considerate of each other and continuing rallies while exercising together by the beautiful Fukutsu sea. Please feel free to join us." In July, the "Frescoball Kirishima Cup 2026" is scheduled to be held in Miyakonojo City, Miyazaki Prefecture, also in Kyushu. If you start now, you might make it to the tournament?! Please feel free to join the trial session.

■ What is "traveling, communication design sport" Frescoball?
Frescoball is a beach sport originating from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It was invented in 1945 on Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro and is now enjoyed on beaches around the world. The main feature of frescoball is that it is a scoring competition where two people facing each other cooperate to continue a rally, rather than compete. A match lasts for 5 minutes, with players maintaining a distance of 7 meters. It is also called the "sport of compassion" because of the cooperative rallying. The JFBA reached a basic agreement with the Rio Frescoball Federation (FEFERJ) in October 2025 to establish the world's first international organization, 'UAFI', for international rule unification. Furthermore, centered on the unique Japanese frescoball culture of "enjoying frescoball all year round as if traveling," the association is strengthening its promotional activities as a competition with high affinity for sports tourism. In Japan, 29 official regional clubs and 5 official student groups are currently registered.
