Fpco and Co-op Kagoshima Announce "Eco-Store Collaboration Declaration"

Fpco Co., Ltd. (Chairman: Morimasa Sato, hereinafter "Fpco") and Co-op Kagoshima (President: Hideto Kamishiro, hereinafter "Co-op Kagoshima") have collaborated to announce the "Eco-Store Collaboration Declaration" on May 1, 2026, with the aim of promoting a sustainable circular society. This declaration further strengthens the "Store-to-Store" horizontal recycling initiative, which starts and ends at stores, across all 19 stores operated by Co-op Kagoshima, marking the first such initiative between Fpco and consumer cooperatives nationwide. Fpco and Co-op Kagoshima have previously worked together to make "stores eco-leaders in their communities," collecting used food trays and PET bottles from members and local residents through collection boxes installed at Co-op Kagoshima stores. All collected resources are recycled at Fpco's recycling plants and regenerated into eco-products such as "Eco-Tray" and "Eco-APET." This "Store-to-Store" horizontal recycling scheme, which circulates resources without changing their use by re-using these regenerated products as food containers in Co-op Kagoshima's sales areas, will continue to be practiced. With this collaboration declaration as a catalyst, the conventional circulation scheme will be further developed and strengthened into a community-involved initiative. Specifically, the scope of use will be expanded to "adopt eco-products as much as possible" in Co-op Kagoshima's sales areas. Furthermore, to increase the volume of resource collection at stores, the display of environmental posters and posters showing CO2 reduction effects will be enhanced, strengthening visual public relations. In addition, environmental events will be held at each store to strongly encourage members and local residents to participate in recycling. In the previous fiscal year (ended March 2026), the results were 21.70 tons of collected food trays and 20.44 tons of collected PET bottles, with CO2 emission reductions reaching 137.59 tons due to the use of eco-products. Through the strengthening of these activities, the target for the fiscal year ending March 2027 is to achieve 22.0 tons of collected food trays (101.4% year-on-year), 22.0 tons of collected PET bottles (107.6% year-on-year), and 144.0 tons of CO2 emission reduction (104.7% year-on-year).
