Starting April 4, 2026, 'Roadside Station Toyo Town' (operated by FoundingBase Inc., headquartered in Setagaya-ku, Tokyo; Kenji Yamamoto, CEO; hereinafter 'FoundingBase') located in Toyo Town, Kochi Prefecture, will launch three new products using yellowfin tuna from Toyo Town: 'Yellowfin Tuna Yangnyeom Pickles,' 'Yellowfin Tuna Shoinomi Pickles,' and 'Yellowfin Tuna Inakamiso Pickles.'

About the New Products

Yellowfin Tuna Yangnyeom Pickles - Concept A new type of processed product to enjoy Toyo Town's yellowfin tuna with a spicy and savory Yangnyeom sauce. With the desire to make local products more accessible to many people, it was planned as a new ready-to-eat product targeting women by combining it with Korean seasoning culture.

- Development Purpose In Toyo Town, there are few seafood processing companies, and raw tuna was the center of distribution, limiting the means to broadcast its appeal outside the region. Therefore, we developed processed products utilizing local resources, aiming for people to enjoy the unique deliciousness of Toyo Town as meals at home or as souvenirs.

- Features & Highlights We use raw yellowfin tuna from Toyo Town, Kochi Prefecture, which has a mild and light taste. After preparation, it goes through multiple processes—steaming, roasting, drying, and rolling—to bring out a soft texture, and is then marinated in a gochujang-based homemade Yangnyeom sauce. The balance of sweetness and spiciness is adjusted to make it a perfect accompaniment to rice or alcohol. It is a new tuna product highly popular among women, combining Tosa's tradition with Korean seasoning culture.

Yellowfin Tuna Shoinomi Pickles - Concept Under the theme of 'connecting grandma's taste to the future by the younger generation,' this is a processed product to taste yellowfin tuna with the umami of fermented 'Shoinomi.' By utilizing ingredients from local producers, it aims to pass on food culture, contribute to the community, and improve the recognition of 'Shoinomi.'

- Development Purpose In addition to broadcasting the appeal of Toyo Town to the outside through processed products, it aims to create a product more characteristic of Toyo Town and contribute to the revitalization of the entire region by utilizing the produce of the 'Hometown Processing Group Narukawa,' formed by local grandmothers.

- Features & Highlights It uses raw yellowfin tuna and 'Shoinomi,' a traditional fermented food. Shoinomi is a 'known only to those in the know' rare ingredient characterized by the deep richness and umami produced by soy sauce and koji. The tuna is marinated in a 'special' Shoinomi sauce that adds the texture of nuts and the flavor of sesame oil. By layering the richness of Shoinomi, the texture of nuts, and the savory flavor, it is finished with a taste that goes well with rice. It is a masterpiece unique to Toyo Town born from cross-generational connections, passing local food culture to the future and contributing to the local economy through collaboration with local businesses.

Yellowfin Tuna Inakamiso Pickles - Concept Under the theme of 'connecting grandma's taste to the future by the younger generation,' this is a processed product to taste yellowfin tuna with the local flavor 'Inakamiso.' It aims to become a product loved locally while allowing people to enjoy local products closely.

- Development Purpose Similar to the Shoinomi Pickles, by utilizing the produce of the 'Hometown Processing Group Narukawa,' the aim is to widely convey the appeal of Toyo Town, revitalize the entire region, and pass on the food culture to the future.

- Features & Highlights It uses raw yellowfin tuna and 'Inakamiso,' a local flavor passed down from generation to generation in Toyo Town. The gentle sweetness of koji and the richness of the miso enhance the umami of the yellowfin tuna, and the mellow taste spreads in the mouth. By marinating it in a special Inakamiso sauce flavored with shiso (perilla), the refreshing scent becomes an accent, creating a taste that goes well with rice.

Developer's Voice We have been working on product development as a processed product utilizing a new local resource using tuna from Toyo Town. To create an unprecedented taste, we started by establishing tuna processing technology. With the desire for more people to know the value of Toyo Town's local products, we repeatedly made prototypes, paid attention to the packaging, and spent about a year to complete it.

The package design uses Japanese paper with a sparkling gloss, making it widely enjoyable from small gifts to everyday dining. In addition, we decided on patterns and colors based on images associated with each product, such as Japanese style or Korean style. We believe you can enjoy the differences of each by purchasing them as a set.

It is a masterpiece unique to Toyo Town born from cross-generational connections, passing local food culture to the future and contributing to the local economy through collaboration with local businesses.
