The three-member crossover vocal group Nagie Lane has released a cover of 'Shiroi Iro wa Koibito no Iro,' a legendary Japanese folk-pop song originally released in 1969 by Betsy & Chris.
This new version centers on the group’s distinctive three-part harmonies, preserving the original’s transparency and simplicity while reconstructing it with a contemporary sound. Guitarist Johnny Hatazou (Back to the Holiday) joins the production, further deepening the warm acoustic textures first showcased in their previous single 'Won’t You Call My Name?'
The recurring floral motif in the song’s lyrics is often interpreted as a nod to the late 1960s flower movement and anti-war sentiments. In today’s world, marked by global division and conflict, Nagie Lane infuses this track with a message of harmony, aiming to deliver it to a new generation.
For Nagie Lane, summer 2026 marks a pivotal turning point. They are confirmed to perform at FUJI ROCK FESTIVALʼ26 on July 26 (Sun) and LuckyFes’26 on August 8 (Sat). Most notably, they will participate in the special acoustic project 'Kiyoshi Kuno PEACE SONGS' at FUJI ROCK FESTIVALʼ26, where they will not only perform vocals, guitar, and bass but also take charge of the entire band’s arrangements.
Their invitation stems from the 'DONUT SONGS' cover series the group shares on social media, particularly their rendition of 'Mr. Tambourine Man,' which caught the attention of Kiyoshi Kuno’s team. Additionally, The Gospellers—the renowned Japanese vocal group that discovered Nagie Lane—performed 'Slow Ballad' at the 2000 Kiyoshi Kuno Festival, suggesting a shared musical lineage between the artists.
With their warm harmonies and genre-blending style spanning acoustic and pop, Nagie Lane has been hailed as the 'Heisei-era Peter, Paul and Mary.' As their presence grows in the festival scene, all eyes are on their future activities.
