Forest Publishing Co., Ltd. (Location: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, President: Hiroshi Ota) will sequentially release "Immediately Useful Business Culture: Interest Rates" (Supervised by Toshihiro Ihori) starting Thursday, April 9, 2026. This book is designed to help readers develop the ability to grasp and judge economic changes based on the knowledge of interest rates.
■ Interest rates are not just a topic in economic news
- When taking out a mortgage - When choosing where to deposit money - When considering investments - When a policy change by the Bank of Japan is reported
Every day, we are affected by interest rates without even realizing it.
However, "What exactly is an interest rate?" "Why do they fluctuate?" "How do they affect my life and work?" There are surprisingly few opportunities to systematically understand these matters.
This book is an organized guide to the basics of interest rates, explained in a way that is easy for beginners to understand.
■ Understand the connection between the economy, prices, exchange rates, and investments
In this book, interest rates are not treated merely as financial knowledge, but are explained in connection with specific themes such as the economy, prices, corporate activities, foreign exchange, investments, and loans.
You will learn three-dimensionally "what changes when interest rates move" while carefully following: - Long-term and short-term interest rates - The relationship with government bond prices - Policy management by the central bank - The impact on the stock market and bond investments
Because it delves into how to read news and statements from key figures, how you view daily information will likely change.
■ From "Knowing" to "Being Able to Judge"
The goal of this book is not to guess the future direction of interest rates.
It is about understanding the background of changes and developing your own criteria for making judgments.
As it explains without relying too much on formulas or technical terms, and incorporates charts and illustrations, even those who previously found interest rates difficult should find it easy to read.
In an era where interest rates dictate the economy and daily life, this is a book that provides the foundation for the ability to decipher the news and to make more rational choices and actions.
