The Yokohama Port Opening Festival is one of Yokohama's flagship civic events, attracting approximately 800,000 visitors annually. The SmaGO units installed for this event operate on solar power and feature automatic waste compression—reducing volume to about one-fifth—along with cloud-based monitoring of waste accumulation levels. This enables efficient waste collection while preventing overflow, contributing to maintaining cleanliness and optimizing collection operations during large-scale events.

This initiative aligns with the festival's theme, 'Thanks to the Port—Celebrating the Opening and Giving Thanks to the Port,' by creating a convenient waste disposal environment for visitors, aiming to reduce litter flowing from the city into the ocean.

By installing SmaGO at this port-centered event, the goal was not only to maintain venue aesthetics and improve collection efficiency but also to promote the environmental action of 'disposing of trash properly'—a step toward preserving Yokohama’s marine environment.
