Recreating the "Original Fun of Conveyor Belt Sushi" with Large Touch Displays! Yamanashi Prefecture's First "Digi-Ro" Introduction Decided!

Akindo Sushiro Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Suita City, Osaka; President and CEO: Kohei Nii) is accelerating the introduction of its "Digital Sushiro Vision," commonly known as "Digi-Ro," in response to widespread customer acclaim. In April, it will be introduced at "Sushiro Kofu Alps-dori Store" as the first in Yamanashi Prefecture.

Conveyor belt sushi Sushiro was born from a single standing sushi restaurant in Osaka called "Tai Sushi." Since then, for over 40 years, we have maintained a thorough commitment to everything from sushi toppings, rice, prices, to the in-store experience. We uphold the motto "Straight to Sushi!" and will continue to earnestly face our beloved sushi, diligently, honestly, and sincerely, to deliver delicious sushi to our customers.

"Digi-Ro" is an initiative that proposes a "next-generation conveyor belt sushi" experience, recreating the original fun of conveyor belt sushi using digital technology, allowing customers to enjoy an unprecedented in-store experience. Since its introduction at the end of September 2023, we have continuously updated it to enhance the experiential value in line with customer needs. It was awarded the 2024 Good Design Award for its ability to expand the experiential value of conveyor belt sushi even without a physical conveyor belt. Driven by the desire for more customers to experience "Digi-Ro," we continue to expand the number of stores where it is introduced.

This time, on Friday, April 10th, the first "Digi-Ro" store in Yamanashi Prefecture will open in Kofu City. Additionally, on Thursday, April 16th, "Sushiro Kokura Ekimae Store" in Fukuoka Prefecture and "Sushiro Sasazuka Ekimae Store" in Tokyo will newly open, and on Thursday, April 30th, "Sushiro Abeno Apollo Store" in Osaka Prefecture will open. Furthermore, stores in Miyagi, Saitama, Hiroshima, Shiga, Mie, Saga, and Okinawa Prefectures will also introduce it in conjunction with their renewal openings, making "Digi-Ro" available at 178 stores nationwide by the end of April.

What is "Digi-Ro" that makes dining at Sushiro even more fun and convenient?

It is a large touch display that recreates the essence of conveyor belt sushi, where you can enjoy the pleasure of discovering new sushi and the joy of choosing while viewing various products on screen. You can watch sushi flowing as video, operate the screen with your finger to order products, and multiple people can view and operate the screen simultaneously.

Furthermore, "Digi-Ro" features functions that further enhance the dining experience at Sushiro, such as displaying information about sushi specialties and quizzes, and games that can be enjoyed based on the order amount.

The design concept is "Another Sushiro World Spreading Beyond the Display"! It's an image of the curtain rising on a stage where sushi is the star. You can also switch to "Dakkozushi Mode," where Sushiro's official characters appear, according to your preference.

Multiple people can view and operate the screen simultaneously. There is no waiting for the touch panel, providing the fun of choosing together. Digi-Ro also allows ordering from smartphones, so you can take your time and order freely even from aisle seats.

In addition to the digital conveyor belt, you can select products from the product menu. Also, a new ordering method called "Sushi Navi" has been introduced, allowing for new encounters with sushi toppings, where you might discover "I didn't know this, but it's delicious!" It also includes functions not found in previous touch panels, such as narrowing down products by theme using hashtags.
