The aging of society has led to an increase in people who are forced to give up their dogs and cats due to entering nursing homes or hospitalization. Friends of Animals also receives many dogs and cats for the aforementioned reasons, and this trend is increasing year by year. Many of the dogs and cats that have stayed with humans for many years are also elderly, and often arrive with illnesses. Today, we would like to introduce some of these elderly dogs and cats. ◾️ Small dog Azuki-chan She came to Wanko Nyanko House (our organization's shelter) after her owner was hospitalized and decided to enter a nursing home. She had bladder stones, stomatitis, and a tumor, but due to severe kidney problems, aggressive surgery was not possible. At the house, she quickly adapted to other dogs and cats, and her endearing waddling steps made her a cute dog, but she passed away at the end of April. ◾️ Small dog Sora Sora is a dog who cannot see or hear. She also came from an elderly owner. When she first arrived at the house, she would scream in distress when being diapered or cleaned, and would try to bite humans, but gradually she calmed down and became a very good dog. Now she eats well and sleeps soundly. ◾️ Black cat Goma-shio Goma-shio was an amazing 22 years old! He came from Chiba. He spent his recuperation time at the representative's home and was affectionately called "Grandpa Goma-shio." His black fur with a few white specks really resembled sesame and salt (goma-shio). Goma-shio also passed away recently. Perhaps it was his time. He lived a long and fulfilling life. ◾️ Yamato Yamato, a toy poodle, temporarily came to Wanko Nyanko House from his owner's home due to circumstances, but he suffered an epileptic seizure and passed away. Yamato looked happy on a fluffy cushion. This was at his owner's home. He must have been deeply loved. ◾️ Wappy Wappy, a small to medium-sized dog, also came from an elderly owner. He seems to have a bit of a biting habit, but he is gentle with cats. He just arrived at the house and barks a lot, but we believe his personality will gradually calm down. The dogs and cats introduced today are all 12-15 years old! (Goma-shio was 22!) They are what humans would call "late-stage elderly." It's understandable that they might have one or two illnesses. Wanko Nyanko House has many other elderly dogs and cats besides those introduced here. When an elderly dog or cat's health deteriorates, we provide minimal care at the house or the representative's home. However, the representative is often seen regretting whether to take them to the hospital or not, feeling regret either way. Taking care of dogs and cats on behalf of their owners until their last moments is likely a more painful role than imagined. Last November, we also requested cooperation for donations (crowdfunding) for the medical and treatment expenses of elderly dogs and cats entrusted to us. To ensure that our organization continues to function as a final home for these dogs and cats, we are making this announcement today to ask for your continuous support. We appreciate your cooperation. ● Mitsubishi UFJ Bank Machida Branch (228) Ordinary Deposit 1891047 Account Name: TOKUTEI HIEIRI KATSUDO HOJIN FRIENDS OF ANIMALS ● Mizuho Bank Machida Branch (116) Ordinary Deposit 3086847 Account Name: TOKUHI) FRIENDS OF ANIMALS ● Japan Post Bank (Ordinary) Branch Name: Zero Ichi Hachi (018) Account Type: Ordinary Account Number: 4803310 Account Name: TOKUHI) FRIENDS OF ANIMALS ● Japan Post Bank (Current) Branch Name: Zero Ichi Kyu (019) Account Type: Current Account Number: 00150-8-571174 (From other banks: 0571174) Account Name: TOKUHI) FRIENDS OF ANIMALS ● We also accept donations by bequest. * To send a donation receipt certificate, Please contact us by email with the following information after making a donation: ・Address and name of the final tax return filer ・Address for sending the donation receipt certificate (if different from the tax return address, please inform us) ・Date of donation transfer, name of transferor, name of bank (Japan Post Bank Current or Ordinary Deposit / Mitsubishi UFJ Bank / Mizuho Bank) Friends of Animals is a historical organization certified by the Tokyo Governor as a "Certified Specified Non-profit Organization."
