This marks the first rose season since the renovation. Amidst approximately 250 varieties and 5,700 roses (about 3.5 times more than before the renovation) blooming throughout the park, we propose programs that allow visitors to deeply experience the charm of roses not just through viewing, but also through scent, taste, and hands-on activities.
※The spring rose fair season, when roses are in full bloom, is 35 days, from Saturday, May 9 to Friday, June 12. Of this, the ROSE WEEK event period is 22 days, from Saturday, May 9 to Sunday, May 31.
Highlights of ROSE WEEK
1. Prefecture's Largest Scale with 5,700 Roses and Rare Varieties
Approximately 250 varieties and 5,700 spring roses will bloom, primarily in the Main Flower Garden of the HANA Area and the Rose Garden of the MINAMO Area. Spring roses are characterized by many varieties blooming simultaneously and a refreshing fragrance filling the entire park, compared to autumn roses.
Gunma Flower Park Plus, boasting the highest number of rose bushes in the prefecture (※1), has extensively planted "Rosa Orientis" (※1) varieties created by breeder Takunori Kimura.
There are also rare new varieties just announced in 2025, which rose enthusiasts can enjoy.
※1 Based on our own research of publicly available rose bush counts at major rose gardens in the prefecture.
※2 Rosa Orientis: A brand created by Japanese rose creator and breeder Takunori Kimura, pursuing strong and beautiful roses resistant to Japan's climate (high temperature and humidity).
2. Original Rose "Cocon Jaune" Only Seen Here
The yellow rose "Cocon Jaune," which is also the park's logo color, will be in full bloom. This is an original rose bred by Takunori Kimura and can only be seen at Gunma Flower Park Plus.
As its name, meaning "yellow cocoon" in French, suggests, it features a lovely, round, cocoon-like flower shape. It is a tea-scented rose with a fresh fragrance, and original products inspired by the scent of Cocon Jaune are also available at the park's shop.
