Figma, Inc. (Headquarters: San Francisco, USA), a provider of browser-based collaborative design and product development platforms, has officially announced 'Governance+', a new governance tool for enterprise customers. This tool has been pre-introduced to major domestic companies, including Mitsubishi UFJ Bank, and its full-scale provision will begin with this announcement.
"In the AI era, companies serious about building products quickly and securely are seeking more data governance support. Early adopters of our governance tool 'Governance+' have reported positive results, and we are pleased to help more creatively ambitious customers through this release," said Hiroaki Kawaen, Country Manager of Figma Japan.
Japan is among our top 5 active user markets globally, with Japanese Figma users creating over 30 million files in 2025. Customers in regulated industries requiring additional data security, such as public services, healthcare, and finance, can utilize Figma's consistent scale and performance while strictly managing access permissions.
"For financial institutions, customer trust is the foundation of business, and strict governance and data management are indispensable. At the same time, we position improving customer experience (CX) as a critical management theme and are working to achieve it through design. With the introduction of Governance+, it has become possible to reconcile controls such as security and compliance with the cross-organizational utilization of Figma's rich features, such as building design systems. As a result, design reusability and consistency have increased, allowing us to provide seamless customer experiences across multiple services without slowing down. This enables us to continuously evolve a more advanced and reliable banking service customer experience," said Mr. Furuhashi, Investigator at Mitsubishi UFJ Bank.
With Governance+, enterprise customers can manage data and enhance security and compliance with strengthened access controls.
The features provided by Governance+ are as follows:
- Centralized Management:
Ensures that all Figma activities by employees are conducted within an organization-managed environment and network, and that company policies are applied. Features such as IP whitelisting and Network Access Restriction (NAR) minimize the risk of data leaking to personal or unauthorized spaces.
- Account Security:
Protects organizational data by enforcing secure authentication requirements. By mandating two-factor authentication (2FA), automatic idle session timeouts, and supporting multiple identity providers (IdPs), companies can mitigate the risk of unauthorized access to legitimate accounts.
- Data Governance:
Ensures adherence to internal data standards. Governance+ visualizes Figma activities through tools like Discovery Pipeline, helping companies comply with electronic communication retention policies and respond to legal discovery requirements.
These features are built upon Figma's existing security controls, including activity logs, single sign-on (SSO), seat assignment via Figma SCIM API, and the ability to restrict external collaborators from joining the organization.
Governance+ is available today as an add-on service for all Enterprise Plan customers. More information about Governance+ can be found here.
