Behind the Scenes of 'Love Monster'
FENDI, the iconic luxury brand from Rome, Italy, unveiled 'Love Monster,' an original short film directed by Valeria Golino, on July 9, 2026, to inaugurate its 2026–2027 Fall/Winter Haute Couture Collection. The film stars Leila George and Pietro Castellitto.
Released just before the couture collection was streamed live to the world at 8:30 PM local Italian time, 'Love Monster' sets a poetic tone for the evening, portraying a story of desire oscillating between dreams and reality.
Filming took place in the gardens of Villa Borghese and within the closed halls of the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea—the very venue hosting the couture presentation. Conceived as an emotional overture to the collection, the film reflects the themes of sensuality, freedom, and joy explored in the designs. Through this original work, FENDI reaffirms its enduring bond with Rome and its long-standing dialogue with art.
Valeria Golino shared her vision: 'I wanted to create a short film that is both slow and fast at the same time. Slow in depicting kisses, caresses, intimate moments, and sweet aftertastes, yet fast when portraying the urge to escape. Then coming back together, closer than ever, laughing, and running away again—falling in love all over again.'
