Hideki Fujinami, Chief Producer of NHK Taiga Drama "Berabou ~Tsutajyu Eiga no Yume Monogatari~", to Appear at Felissimo's "Kobe Gakko" on April 25th (Saturday)

Felissimo will hold its "Kobe Gakko" message live event, held monthly since 1997 with the concept of "Gifts of Experience and Words," on Saturday, April 25th, at Stage Felissimo and online. The guest for the 344th Kobe Gakko in April will be Hideki Fujinami, Chief Producer at NHK's Content Production Bureau, who will speak on the theme "Cultivating the World Through Entertainment ~ Behind-the-Scenes Stories of the Taiga Drama 'Berabou'."

For the April 2026 Kobe Gakko, we are pleased to welcome Hideki Fujinami, Chief Producer at NHK's Content Production Bureau.

The NHK Taiga drama "Berabou ~Tsutajyu Eiga no Yume Monogatari~," which concluded in December 2025, was overseen by Mr. Fujinami as its chief producer. "Berabou" depicted the life of Tsutaya Juzaburo, also known as the "Media King of Edo," and reportedly sparked interest and empathy for the richness and splendor of Edo culture expressed in entertainment works like ukiyo-e and kibyoshi, as well as the similarities between the social conditions of that era and modern times.

Furthermore, the story, set in the mid-Edo period, a time of peace, and featuring Juzaburo – a marketer and creator of his time who famously said, "I carry nothing heavier than my brush" – was a departure from previous Taiga dramas and became a major topic of discussion.

The background to the creation of such a unique work lies in what Mr. Fujinami considers to be the "significance of public broadcasting creating entertainment works." On the day, he will look back on his career and share the thoughts he cherishes in producing programs, which have developed precisely because he has continued his career as a producer at NHK. This is a valuable opportunity to hear about the background of the "Berabou" project and behind-the-scenes stories from its production.
