Change Makers Shaping the Future Gather in Shibuya: Shibuya City, Tokyu Corporation, and Tokyu Land Corporation Join as Co-Creation Partners for SIW2026

Shibuya Future Design (Representative Director: Hideki Koizumi, hereinafter 'Shibuya Future Design') will host 'SOCIAL INNOVATION WEEK 2026 (SIW)' from Monday, November 2 to Sunday, November 8, 2026, under the theme 'BE A CHANGE-MAKER.'

It has been confirmed that Shibuya City, Tokyu Corporation, and Tokyu Land Corporation will participate as Co-Creation Partners. Diverse Change Makers—including government, businesses, citizens, startups, creators, researchers, and students—will gather in Shibuya to collectively envision the future of cities and society and generate new actions. As social challenges grow increasingly complex and cannot be solved by any single organization or industry alone, cross-sector and cross-boundary collaboration is now essential. At SIW2026, new projects and initiatives will emerge from diverse encounters and dialogues, with future-oriented actions launched from Shibuya.

In the greater Shibuya area—including Shibuya, Harajuku, Omotesando, Yoyogi, Daikanyama, and Ebisu—we have advanced human-centered urban development through place-making initiatives such as Shibuya Sakura Stage and Yoyogi Park BE STAGE, the community app 'SHIBUYA MABLs' that fosters human connections, and environmental initiatives. These efforts have continuously delivered excitement by enabling new ideas to emerge.

Under the SIW2026 theme 'BE A CHANGE-MAKER.,' we will co-create with diverse stakeholders, using Shibuya as a field for experimentation and challenge, to develop new initiatives that address social issues and create new urban values.

SOCIAL INNOVATION WEEK (SIW) has been creating a platform since 2018 to connect diverse ideas with the future of society, aiming to solve social challenges and build a better future. This will be the 9th edition. Bringing together diverse players from industry, government, academia, and civil society, SIW explores new social possibilities through dialogue, ideation, experience, and demonstration. Beyond discussion and dissemination, SIW generates projects and actions that lead to solving social issues and creating new value, aiming to pioneer future urban models, cultures, and industries from Shibuya. The 2026 theme is 'BE A CHANGE-MAKER.'—positioning the event as a co-creation space that cultivates 'makers of change' from Shibuya.
