Keita Endo's Comments

"To the FC Tokyo fans and supporters. I have decided to transfer to Kashiwa Reysol.

Although I wasn't born and raised a true warrior in blue and red when I came to Tokyo, I came to truly love the club of Tokyo, and the 'blue and red' within me became deeper and more precious.

Looking back, I have countless memories. I was called a 'Derby Man' after scoring two goals against Tokyo Verdy, but I couldn't score in any subsequent Tokyo V matches, and the moment we were held to a 2-2 draw became my highlight in Tokyo. I regret that I was always scoring away from home and couldn't run to you all at Ajinomoto Stadium. I feel strongly about my own inadequacy and lack of strength, as I was unable to contribute to any team titles since joining.

Even so, I met many wonderful teammates and staff members when I came to Tokyo. Thank you so much for treating me well, even though I was cheeky and complained a lot. I looked forward to going to practice every day, and I truly enjoyed the time I spent with everyone.

Tokyo had many talented and wonderful players. Players who ran for the team more than I did, and players who made the stadium erupt when they had the ball. The practice environment to catch up and surpass them was very enjoyable and challenging.

'Stagnation is regression' is a phrase Coach Matsuhashi taught me since my youth days. As a player, I always felt a sense of crisis that I couldn't continue like this if I thought about my future. I may have become complacent after playing in a decent number of games since coming to Tokyo and gaining a certain level of relationships and standing as a player. It's not that I want to say something like 'for growth' in a pretty way; it's a challenge that could be solved if I myself changed, without changing my environment. I believe that continuing to play for one club for a long time, like Keigo Higashi and Masato Morishige, and overcoming new challenges and struggles within the same club, is surely more noble. It is great and difficult. So, I understand that this decision may not be understood by everyone, but I have decided to forge ahead on the path I have chosen, as whether it becomes the right decision depends on me.

Even if it's just my own selfish assumption, I feel that I was able to play at Ajinomoto Stadium while receiving a lot of love. Thank you so much for loving me so much. I will engrave the encounter with all of you in my heart forever and strive on the path I have chosen."
