FANCL Holds First "Food Education x UV Protection" Workshop for Preschoolers in Collaboration with Seiyo City, Ehime Prefecture, Learning Local Charm Through Kale Harvesting and "Green Mandarin Juice from the Tap" Experience

On Thursday, May 21, 2026, FANCL Corporation, in collaboration with Ehime Prefecture and Seiyo City, held an integrated event at Green Hill Co., Ltd. in Nomura Town, Seiyo City, for 22 preschoolers from "Nomura Kodomoen" (Nomura Children's Garden) and their parents.

This event was conducted as part of the company's ongoing sustainability and food education initiatives.

Following a "Food Education Workshop" held for the same children in September 2025, this event newly combined the traditional food education with a "Kids' Skincare (UV Protection) Workshop" aimed at protecting healthy skin.

Furthermore, through experiences such as harvesting kale, a local specialty product, and the "Green Mandarin Juice from the Tap" experience using kale juice and Ehime-produced mandarin juice, children were provided with an opportunity to learn about health and the charm of the region while having fun.

■ Background and Objectives of This Initiative

FANCL is currently focusing on promoting skincare and UV protection workshops for children as a key pillar of its sustainability activities aimed at contributing to a sustainable society.

This time, the event was realized as a community-based initiative through public-private collaboration, set in Nomura Town, Seiyo City, where "Green Hill," which cultivates kale, a raw ingredient for our blue vegetable juice, is located. With the full support of the Ehime Prefectural Sales Office and Seiyo City Hall, specialized staff collaborated to support the healthy growth of children from both aspects of "food" and "skin health."

1. "Food Education Workshop" & "Kids' Skincare (UV Protection) Workshop"

FANCL's specialized staff conducted a food education workshop to convey the secrets of nutrient-rich kale. Additionally, the "Kids' Skincare (UV Protection) Workshop," where parents and children could learn correct UV protection methods, crucial for the upcoming season, was held for the first time.

2. "Kale Harvesting Experience" to Connect with the Origin of Blue Vegetable Juice

At Green Hill, the preschoolers had the experience of harvesting large kale leaves with their own hands while touching the soil.

3. Local Experience and Interaction with Characters

The "Green Mandarin Juice from the Tap" was featured as a representative experience of Ehime Prefecture. "Miyakyan" and "Dark Miyakyan," Ehime Prefecture's image characters, along with "Sei-bo," Seiyo City's mascot character, also made an appearance, livening up the venue.
