Faith Network Co., Ltd. (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Jiro Hachiyachi, hereinafter 'the Company') is pleased to announce the completion of 'GranDuo Chitosefunabashi 7' (Setagaya-ku, Tokyo) on Monday, June 15, 2026.

[Exterior and Interior of 'GranDuo Chitosefunabashi 7']

This property, designed by Kobayashi 401.Design room Co., Ltd. and Shirasuna Takahiro Architectural Design Office, is located in a residential neighborhood just five minutes on foot from Chitose-Funabashi Station, beyond the shopping street. It has been planned as a space that realizes comfortable living rooted in the local community.

The exterior features a plaster finish on the first floor and baked brick tiles on the second and third floors, creating a calm and refined appearance. Additionally, planting strips using 'Aqua Soil'—a special soil with high water retention—are installed throughout the site. Approximately 25 species of flowering trees and shrubs, such as Hydrangea serrata and Deutzia scabra, add color and vitality to the building and residents' lives.

The open entrance hall facing the street displays the artwork 'The Power of Seeds,' created by regenerating preserved trees from the site. The artwork was created by Sofia Mirai Totoki, who won an award in the 'Art from the City: Temporary Fence Design Idea Contest Vol. 1.' Serving as the building’s icon, it welcomes residents and visitors alike.

Inside, multiple slit windows are installed to block outside views while allowing light and air to enter, ensuring natural lighting and ventilation. The design enables residents to experience changes brought by the external environment. A warm color palette of brown and gray tones brings soft unity to the interior spaces.

The floor plans maximize the use of the site, offering diverse layouts with added-value features such as roof balconies, tatami-style finishes, workspaces, and wooden louver privacy screens.

This is a comfortable home where residents live under the watchful presence of art that carries the memory of the land.

'The Power of Seeds —Within a Seed—'

Through this work, I wanted to express the resilient strength of a single tiny seed and the infinite potential hidden within it.

Even something so minute contains all the information necessary for growth, serving as the foundation for an explosive transformation into a towering tree. It internally nurtures everything required to survive for centuries. This existence can be paralleled with various experiences and concepts in human life. At the same time, it represents the sacredness of 'life itself'—something that appears to emerge from nothing, yet constantly circulates and continues eternally. Within the seed lies a condensed force that, though invisible to the eye, undoubtedly exists. Sometimes, perhaps, we lose sight of such essential truths deeply rooted in the essence of life.

In this artwork, I express the 'radiation of light and energy' seen in religious art across various cultures, using the rich textures of natural wood, while arranging countless 'dots' radiating outward from the center. The 'dot' element represents the small, round shape of a 'seed' itself and, like a line being a collection of dots, symbolizes the 'origin of visible things.' At the same time, it also symbolizes fundamental particles such as quarks and electrons that constitute the universe, as well as the expanding universe itself.

This artwork is made entirely from the 'Akamatsu' pine tree that once grew at this exhibition site. I sincerely hope that this tree, which once lived here, will continue to convey the miracle of life to us in its transformed form.
