The Japan Financial Education Support Organization (Co-Representative Directors: Risa Hirai and Nana Abe, location: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; hereinafter 'the Organization') has been selected for the grant program 'Rohto Children's Dream Fund' hosted by the specified non-profit organization Peace Winds Japan and Rohto Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. The Organization will implement financial education workshops in collaboration with places for children and youth in three locations: Tokyo, Kyoto, and Ishikawa prefectures.

Due to differences in family environment, economic situation, region, and availability of learning opportunities outside of school, there are disparities in children's opportunities to learn about society and consider their future. In particular, knowledge about money, law, and contracts is directly linked to important life choices such as further education, employment, consumption, contracts, and life planning, yet it is an area where it is difficult to have sufficient learning opportunities at home or school alone.

In this project, financial education is positioned not merely as knowledge acquisition, but as learning for children to protect their lives and futures and expand their options. By incorporating expressive activities such as senryu (comic haiku) and video production, the program provides opportunities for children to internalize issues of money, law, and contracts in daily life and express what they have learned in their own words.

The Organization has previously promoted financial education for young people through the 'FES Contest®', where junior and senior high school students create financial education videos understandable to elementary school students, as well as local workshops and outreach classes. In this grant project, the Organization will collaborate with out-of-school places and support organizations to create a model that delivers learning opportunities to children and youth who need them, regardless of family environment, economic situation, or social background.

Implementation Details by Region

Tokyo

In Tokyo, on July 14, 2026, a special financial lecture 'Explore the 8 Powers of Money!' will be held at Tekurie Sagiminoya in Nakano Ward.

The lecture covers the relationship between money and life from eight perspectives: 'spend', 'earn', 'pay taxes', 'save', 'prepare', 'give', 'borrow', and 'increase'.

It aims to help children think through familiar examples about basic knowledge needed for future scenarios such as further education, employment, contracts, consumption, and asset building, creating a foundation for learning that connects to future workshops and video production for the FES Contest®.

Kyoto

In Kyoto Prefecture, on August 17, 2026, with the cooperation of partner company Wakasa Life Co., Ltd., a workshop will be held at the company's headquarters (WAKASA&CO.KYOTO) 2nd floor 'Wakasa no Butai'.

Children from the welfare facilities operated by the company are also scheduled to participate.

On the day, participants will consider themes they want to convey, referencing works from the 'Money, Law, and Contract: Classic Senryu Contest' and addressing everyday troubles, failures, and insights related to money and contracts.

Then, they will produce short videos based on what they learned, challenging themselves to express their financial education learning in their own words.

By using the familiar entry point of senryu, the program is designed to help children perceive topics such as law, contracts, and consumer troubles, which can often seem difficult, as familiar issues.

Ishikawa

In Ishikawa Prefecture, a continuous financial education program will be conducted from June to September, centering on collaboration with Mimimilab.

Targeting mainly junior and senior high school students, and also considering participation from children in welfare facilities and students aiming to become creators, the program will include input lectures on the '8 Powers of Money', video production workshops, and taking the Practical Financial Skills Certification, deepening learning continuously.

Rather than being a one-time event, the program also aims to create a model that visualizes changes in participants' understanding and awareness through learning content, productions, and certification.

* The 'Practical Financial Skills Certification' is a certification that systematically learns the '8 Powers of Money' and connects knowledge not just to 'understanding' but to the ability to think, choose, and act. The Organization launched it on June 15, 2026.

Features of This Project

A key feature of this project is that financial education is designed not just as a 'place to learn knowledge,' but as an opportunity for children and youth to think about their lives and futures and connect necessary knowledge to their own choices.

Knowledge about money, law, and contracts is an important power directly linked to peace of mind in life and future options. However, there is a current situation where opportunities to encounter such knowledge tend to vary depending on family environment, economic situation, region, and availability of out-of-school learning opportunities.

By collaborating with local places, support organizations, and companies, the Organization creates an environment where children and youth can learn safely and express their thoughts. Regardless of family environment or economic situation, the Organization will deliver financial education to children in need and provide learning opportunities to broaden their future options.
