On April 23, 2026, two second-year students from Shigakukan High School (Miho Nishikawa and Sora Fukui), who received awards in the "3rd FES Contest Supported by Japan Post Bank" (hereinafter referred to as "this contest"), paid a courtesy visit to Mayor Yoshikuni Watanabe of Kisarazu City, Chiba Prefecture, to report their achievements.

The "FES Contest®" is a financial education video contest organized by the Japan Financial Education Support Organization (located in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Co-Representative Directors: Risa Hirai and Nana Abe; hereinafter referred to as "the Organization").

Junior and senior high school students create 1-minute financial education short videos, and through this output, they proactively learn about money and the economic society, deepening their understanding. University student volunteers manage the competition, and elementary school students participate in the judging, creating a cross-generational learning environment as a "contest by students, for students."

The "FES Contest®" invites submissions of 1-minute vertical videos that convey content understandable to elementary school students, based on one of the eight types of financial actions ("8 Powers of Money": Spending, Earning, Paying Taxes, Saving, Preparing, Giving, Borrowing, Increasing) organized by the Organization for practical financial education. A major feature is that the information is disseminated through short videos, which are familiar to young people.

This contest received 897 entries from 26 prefectures nationwide, and the awards ceremony was held on Saturday, November 29, 2025.

Miho Nishikawa and Sora Fukui of Shigakukan High School, who made this courtesy visit, applied to this contest after participating in a workshop held in Kisarazu City and won the Governor's Award in the Chiba Prefecture regional competition. Subsequently, they received the Encouragement Award and the Elementary School Judges' Award in the national competition.

Award-winning work of "3rd FES Contest Supported by Japan Post Bank"

Kisarazu City "Courtesy Visit Ceremony for Receiving the Elementary School Judges' Award at the '3rd FES Contest National Competition'"

This work is a video created with a theme of "dark part-time jobs," a social problem, in a structure easily understandable to elementary school students. It received high praise for its strong message of warning.

During this courtesy visit, in addition to introducing the award-winning work, the awardees reported to Mayor Watanabe about the inspiration for its creation and the efforts made. Furthermore, the Co-Representative Director of the Organization and the University Student Steering Committee Chair, who were present, explained the overview and operational structure of the "FES Contest®." Mayor Watanabe listened intently throughout, and a lively exchange of opinions took place in a friendly atmosphere.

Mayor Watanabe commented, "It is important for the younger generation to learn about money at an early stage, and I feel that it is of great significance that they conveyed this importance with the sensibility of their own generation. This video conveys the difficult theme of 'dark part-time jobs' in an easy-to-understand way using illustrations, and I believe it is educational not only for elementary school students but also for many others."

This courtesy visit served as an opportunity to further deepen cooperation with Kisarazu City, which has continuously sponsored the contest since its first edition.

The Organization will continue to work with local governments, educational institutions, and corporations to create opportunities for children to proactively learn about finance and improve the financial literacy of the next generation, through the development of a learning cycle model centered on the "FES Contest®."
